kcw 1
AwriiteI've been speaking to a breaker who's got in a mk4 R32 and I'm thinking of getting the engine and 'box off him. As far as mounting goes I know I'll need the rear mount from the mk4 but can I use mk3 vr6 items for the other mounts?Management wise, what should I be looking for? He's quoting me a price for the engine, box and loom but will I need the ECU, clocks keys etc?Any info on the conversion is a massive help, Ken
pops 1
you don`t need the ecu and etc.. but you will need to buy an aftermarket ecu , could cost you another £600+, personally i would get everything, there is probably a company that can defeat the immobilser in the ecu anyway, could try custom code, jabba ,C2 ???? p3cca 0
Hi buddy I have just done a little bit of searching on here as my engine is fast approaching 140k!!So I dont know if I should run it into the ground until it goes POP! Or to start looking into the R32 route, pretty cool to have that engine in and running sweet BUT is it really worth all the hassle and cost? Some people have stated that the passat 24V V6 can be fitted instead and cheaper easier to do. I have tried a search for this but to no avail. So stick with the R32 plan. Or rebuild your normal lump or go for the 24V V6?Keep me informed buddy if you go the R32 route and let me know how it goes! P3CCA
FishWick 21
Personally I would use the R32's complete managment system as half of the R32's character and power comes from the variable intake and timing.....not to mention the newest version of [VAG] Motronic which isn't half bad :-)If you have an incomplete setup, or you want FWD but can't overcome the interaction between Clocks, ABS, Steering wheel and Haldex etc, then a standalone is your only option, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. You'll just have to sacrifice a few things.ME7 motronic goes into limp mode very easily, especially if you junk 1 or more of the quad lambdas or disconnect the haldex ECU, etc etc. It also uses a steering wheel sensor for the ESP / traction control systems etc etc.... very complex.I'm sure it can be programmed out, C2 UK will know. Or as mentioned, a standalone will remove the "problems" completely.
