Karr-Man 0
ive had my car off the road for almost a week as the windscreen was smashed, got that fixed today however now the car wont start...it turns over but wont fire, ive checked the fuel lines and all seems fine there, but strange noises seem to be coming from the coil pack area...its hard to describe but sounds almost like a gurgling noise, the way some electic kettles sound when you boil them??? im pretty sure this isnt normal and i think its the coil pack making the noises but wanted to check with u guys 1st as coil packs aint cheap...any advice would be appreciatedthanx
VR6Pete 1,455
Are you sure its not the aux water pump thats located behind the coilpack?you can get a coilpack from GSF if it turns out to be that.
Karr-Man 0
hmm might be, would that have any effect on the car starting???
VR6Pete 1,455
nope. have you pulled out each of your spark plugs and checked to see if they give off a spark? that would rule out the coilpack.checked it on VAG-COM? checked immobiliser etc... ?

VR6Pete 1,455
warmer day today up here, not sure what its like down there? VAG-COM is the way forward, sounds like something is not happy, so fingers crossed it will pop up when you scan your car.
Karr-Man 0
ok vagcom says theres nothing wrongtesting the sparking ive got no spark at all going to the centre cylinder on each bank, i seem to recall hearing that the coilpack is split into 3 each serving 2 cylinders so this seems to me an indication that it is the coilpack thats gone.any views on this would be appreciatedalso would like to know whether the coil pack varies at all on vr6s as ui would be interested in getting the 2nd hand one from krave as long as i can be sure its the correct partthanx
VR6Pete 1,455
Hi mate. its unlikly to be anything other than if you have tried swapping HT leads, spark plugs arbout to rule those out too.I ended up byting the bullet and ordered a new one from GSF, and it was a different car after, silky smooth again. edit: krave says its a brand new coil pack, so go for it mate. I think that all coilpacks were the same? but if you check on GSF's website for the part numbers etc..Pete
