Back In The Club!!

Recommended Posts

After what felt like the longest week of my life I've finally got my my toy fettled and sorted so I can "Go public"

Most of you will recognise her, I'm sure (even with the dodgy avatar - I'll take some pics of my own soon, Mina B) )

Big thank you to both IanJ and Mina for all the help and advice over the last few days - it's much appreciated.

She's been off the road since Friday (only got her last Tuesday) waiting for a replacement serpentine belt. How difficult are they to get hold of! %-6

She really is an absolute beast (but civilised with it). Already humbled a geezer in a Boxster without really trying.

As you can probably tell, I'm well chuffed and happy with my replacement for the red MK2 - now Toby's (although that will always have sentimental value to me).

Glad to be back in the action :):):):)

Nice one' date=' is that a V1 charger in there?

Are you the same Anorak that owned a red charged Corrado VR6? If so how do they compare?[/quote']

It's a V2 kit from Eurotech Racing (now no more) in the States I believe.

And yeh, that was me with the 'rado. I got bitten by the VR bug y'see!

The Corrado (with a Z-Engineering ZR2 blower) did 257bhp at Stealth to the Golf's 317 but it's the torque difference I've noticed most.

Where the C needed almost 4000rpm before it felt like it was really on song this little beauty pulls like a tug from 1500.

You can stick it in 4th and go from 20 to 120mph! Quickly!

In fact I've just overlaid my dyno charts from the Corrado day with Minas last one in February (didn't get my nickname for nothin' ;) ) and the Golf holds over 30lbft of torque more from 2000rpm upwards and 40lbft at the top end!

I'd say it accelerates in 4th gear as quick as the C did in second.

Sorry to go on a bit - I'm still a bit excited !amazed (can you tell?)

Thanks for all your comments - although once again I can take no credit for sorting the car, just buying it. Respect to Mina, Ian and Mike Stanley (who started it all off).

I'm pleased to have got a VR again. I nearly slipped and got seduced by a 3 litre M3 (not as quick, sounded nice) and an Impreza STi (gold wheels, sewer pipe diameter exhaust) but in the end I saw the light.

So now I can stay on the friendly forum - cheers peeps 8o)

Anorak... Am i missing something here?

Weren't you selling the MK2 cuz you needed cash for your house and bills or something?! ?!

And now here you are showing off "that thing"??! ;)

Just reading your thread has made my very standard VR6 seem very very very slow!! :@

Nice one mate, welcome back to VR6 ownership (if that thing can be classified a vr6?! :D )

P.S - How much is rocket fuel nowadays?? :P

I sold the MK2 AND my other car so I've just got the one now (sad isn't it?). Just about paid the bills the missis had on the hit list - although I think she was hoping there'd be some cash left over! :P:P

Cheers again all - I'll do my best to keep it sweet. Not sure that it needs any more performance mods though ;)
