DAZVR6 0
Had 17's on my vr up until recently, they were 7j wide with 205/40/17's and they rubbed at the rear when going over bumps so changed em for 16's and have no problems.

jesterwalker69 0
I run 205/40's on my 17's and the rear is now dropped with about 20mm left on the coilie (not sure how much i have dropped it by lol!) and i get no rubbing on the rear. The only reason it rubs on front is because i have 10mm spacers as well and the wheel sits under the arch edge now. gloster 0
Always thought that you were meant to keep the outer diameter as close as possible to the original? *-) There used to be a tyre size calculator link somewhere.Working on that i ran 205/35/17's, which admittedly i found a lousy ride [imo] even though they did look good. vw_golf_vr6 0
within 10% i think it is?i would run 205/40's but i just happen to have a brand new set of 215's in the shed

Changing to 195/45/16 on 6.5j rims soon though.
vw_golf_vr6 0
nice one Roan, looks like 205's are what we needone last thing if vw's are et35-42, which way does it make the wheel go ie if you had wheels of 35 offset would they be further in or out than 42?cheers
