SankysVR6 1
Do you know how or what he's used Mike?I've ordered a button for Mk4 handbrake, as they are separate part. Not sure if it is going to work, but it's only £2. So it's worth a try a thought. Will post on here if it works.
SHARKY 0
Hey guys...A MK3.5 Cab handbrake has a chrome button - I've got one for my car from the local VAG dealers.. Its obvioulsy a direct fit.Part Number will be added when I get home laters...I think it was £25 +VAT for the complete handle. You can buy a chrome buttom from a MK4 Golf handle for about £7 but I don't know if it can be fitted.I'll update laters...Cheers.
SankysVR6 1
If you could post the part numbers, that would be a great help Sharky. As for the Mk4 button I will report on this tonight, when I pick the part up.

SankysVR6 1
Got the Mk4 chrome button, but there is no way it's going to fit, with out cutting the origonal one off and sanding it down. And then cutting the Mk4 off, and drilling all the plastic out of it, and then sticking it on the Mk3 handbrake. If that makes sense, will try post some pictures up tonight explaining it better. In the mean time I'm going to try and get quote off VW for Mk3.5 one. SHARKY 0
Hey guys...Right part number for the handbrake - complete handle with a chrome button - 6N0 711 307B.It was £27 plus VAT - and its a direct replacement for the MK3 one, so its a small amount for work for a huge difference - in my opinion. There is the anniversary one which has the red button, but I think the chrome one is a nice touch.I've also got the part number for the MK4 Golf button - 1J0 711 323D this was £7. It won't fit though...I hope this helps you guys...Cheers...

Matt W 4
Mk3.5 will fit as its identical to the Mk3.However you'll have to cut off the whole gaitor as its not removeable like the normal Mk3. A firend has just fitted one to his US center console which is very similar to the highline center console
vw_golf_vr6 0
hmmm possible mod for my vento, i have the highline type console in mine too
SankysVR6 1
When you buy the Mk4 chrome button it comes like this.It cost me a total sum of £2.98.Part number 1J0 711 323 D2ZThen you've to get the chrome button off, but it doesn't just pull off. I had to use a running drill, and some small cutters to drill it and cut it out, you have to be careful with it as its all made out of plastic. You then end up with this 8-| You then have to file the original handbrake down so the Mk4 chrome button goes over it, nice and tight.and then you end up with this And with the Recaro seats
vw_golf_vr6 0
nice one mate, any more tips for drilling out the innards of the chrome button?
SankysVR6 1
Not really, but try to drill as many holds as you can, I used a 3mm bit and did about 4-5 holes. Then used the cutters to cut it out, and small screw driver for stabbing and prodding. You will just have to give it a go, as I had 2 attempts at it. LOL.

SankysVR6 1
top work mate' date=' how hard is it to take the highline handbrake apart any pics of that and the filing?[/quote']Hi Mike,The Highline handbrake console is held on with screw at the back, just remove the screw and lift it up from the back and pull towards the back gently. You then need to push the console and the leather gaiter over the handbrake until you can see a plastic tab underneath. Pull the tab down and pull the handbrake and console over the handbrake. If your at Inters this Saturday, come find me and i will explain it better. Sorry no pictures of the filing. SankysVR6 1
The gear knob and gaiter, is a one piece item from eaby, it illuminates green for the shift pattern. But you can get it to illuminate in other colours. It's not cheap though, cost me about £60 from German ebay, but I did have £10 voucher form ebay as a loyal customer. So wasn't to bad, it's a nice piece of kit and well put together, well happy with it.I've also replaced all the bushes in the gear shift, and cut it down 15mm or so, It does feel a lot tighter and precise in the gear shift.
