arch rolling problem

hi. i need to roll my rear arches to fit my 9j rims. I want the arches rolled without damaging the paintwork. But every bodywork garage iv been to so far have said that it is impossible to roll them without damaging the paintwork and also that if they heat up the paint..it will bubble up. Wheelmania in tamworth have advised me to get a angle grinder and to do it myself..but i don't want to risk doing it myself.

Does anybody know any place that could sort my arches out? I know it's better to do the full job and sort the paint out to, as the paint may crack later down the line..but i dont mind that right now.

Archenemy, are meant to be pretty good and they come out to you.

You could also try styledyanmix (sp)

I guess no one can guarantee it won't damage the paint, its just risk you will have to take. But what ever you do don't cut the rear arches, as they are double skinned and are for strengthening the rear.

An angle grinder is the worst possible way to loose your arch lip as the arch is double skin'd and if you grind the edge off it you risk distorting the arch. Come on guys is this the Ford owners club site? Do things by half and you'll always end up with half the job.

The only way to do it is to be prepared for paintwork and have them folded back completely against the arch and sealed. You'll end up with inner arches just like a beemer and they'll be strong.

Have a word with a specialist alloy wheel dealer, a local one to me rents out the proper tool that bolts to the hub to fold it back properly, you will need a paint touch up generally but some people have been lucky with one of those hand held steam cleaners or heat gun to heat the arch as they go, which can make the paint just flexi enough if you work very slowly, but as VW stuff is hard paint it probably wont work, but worth ago anyway

then once done go mad with the waxoyl and itll be spot on

The angle grinder route is only worth it if you are going to completly weld along the grind line to fully water tight it, which is normally done if the car is getting a full spray job and MASSIVE wheels where even a small lip is too much

I donno but the proper ones cost £260 :S

Im going to make one soon for my wheel spacers. Got a old brake disc for the hub and a spare jack.

Best thing i can find for the wheel is off a skate board but its abit to small and hard I think..... Anyone got any good ideas of somthink to use for the wheel???

abit small I think but thanks anyway. think about 2" wide and diamiter of about 70mm would be perfix. Im still on the look out
