Was chugging along a private road and saw 2 lights rapidly approaching so i started giving the VR a little stick. Anyway the 2 lights over took and pulled in, my lights caught his boot; S8! It was all good until i topped out at 153 (according to TomTom) and he carried on, not much faster but still carried on :(

So i have decided that i need more power BUT i dont fancy big bills just yet!

Have induction kit and exhaust and pushing out 206bhp so just wondered what else i could fit that wont break the bank but will help give me the extra Oooomph!

Yer thought about cams as well. Not sure what type/make/size(?) cams though?

Thought about a 6-branch as well but heard a few mixed reports about them?

The thing is with my car running suprisingly better then it should be with the few minor mods i have, i dont want to change stuff that works and find out i've actually lost power. Like the RR day showed at DynoDemon my car out performed the schricked cars (HP wise anyway). But as we all know Schrick is meant to improve a standard VR6.... so go figure?!

263 cams are supposed to be best overall for N/A cars as in idling and performance. 268 cams have a rougher idle and are usually recommended for people with forced induction.

A 6 branch is not worth buying imo unless you go forced induction. I fitted a 6 branch along with a decat pipe at the same time in my previous n/a vr6 and did not notice much difference. The little increase in power is not worth the money plus the fuel economy worsens! I defo won't be fitting a 6 branch and decat in my current vr6!

Haha i have just finished reading the GB on Schimmel 263's..... bugger!! Why am i always flipping skint when these awesome GB's come round! grrrrrrr.

Cheers for that mate. I was dubious about the old 6 branch route..... plus it doesnt look pretty once its wrapped etc lol. So deffo wont be going down that line.

if your skint how do you expect to get more power?

that GB is closed anyway, and altho the 263 cams them selves are quite cheap (on the gb) fitting and remap would cost a fortune and make it an expensive extra 20bhp imo

248s are the better option for FI cars....268s are ok with NA....i have DR 268s waiting to go in

Sorry Mike, meant If i had seen the GB at the correct time i would have been too skint to get involved anyway!

Fitting isn't going to be expensive, i have a spanner monkey who could do that for me. But yer your right on the re-map and i had already taken that into assumption.

So with 263 cams capable of +26bhp (as mentioned in the GB thread) i could, potentially be looking at pushing out 232bhp with just induction kit, exhaust, cams and remap...... hmmm.

Show me another off the shelf VR6 modification that gives a proven 26hp and 20lb/ft torque for the same money or less :-)

bottom line is serious power from the vr means big money, 153 aint bad, save up £5k, and if youve got the heart, gearbox, LSD, clutch and a few internals is about all you will need on top of this, not much will be leaving you then hopefully: ;)

p.s make that + £1500 to £2k more if you dont do the work yourself
