acf8181 0
if its the plastic tube that runs in front of the block then yes you have to remove the thermostat housing first.
DundeeDub 0
you may find a few more surprises when you take the housing off, i did, i found that the inner lip that holds the seal had crumbled and there were heat cracks and distorsion all down the inside of it.I would change the thermostat while you are doing it, will save you lots of money in the future
anorak 0
Yep - had exactly the same 'weep' on my VR Corrado.Took the thermostat housing off and all the seals were knackered and the housing was split.Replace the lot - think the bits only cost about £30.Took me about 3 hours but if you're not as hopeless as I am with the spanner you'll do it much quicker! Nerih 0
would a neuspeed thermostat be a good idea at this stage?
Geastb 0
They've been recomended in the past - i'm told a good sensible mod!I'm going to get one too!
DundeeDub 0
i can say only one thing GET A NEUSPEED THERMOSTAT, my water temp now does not go above 70 degrees when moving at any speed (it does go up higher if your sitting still eg traffic jam)i replaced everything on mine, all the housings, clips, seals, bolts etc and it came to about £70. Nerih 0
yep, they come highly recommended and if you're gonna be taking out the housing might as well go the step further and fit a new thermostat.
