hi all can some one help my vr6 has a very slight weep on the pipe connecting to the thermoststate housing ive been to vw and bought the o ring seal that fits beetween the pipe and housing i guess ! firstly can i get the pipe out/off without taking thermostste housing off and what holds the pipe into the housing many thanks all

you may find a few more surprises when you take the housing off, i did, i found that the inner lip that holds the seal had crumbled and there were heat cracks and distorsion all down the inside of it.

I would change the thermostat while you are doing it, will save you lots of money in the future

Yep - had exactly the same 'weep' on my VR Corrado.

Took the thermostat housing off and all the seals were knackered and the housing was split.

Replace the lot - think the bits only cost about £30.

Took me about 3 hours but if you're not as hopeless as I am with the spanner you'll do it much quicker! ;)

i can say only one thing GET A NEUSPEED THERMOSTAT, my water temp now does not go above 70 degrees when moving at any speed (it does go up higher if your sitting still eg traffic jam)

i replaced everything on mine, all the housings, clips, seals, bolts etc and it came to about £70.
