Rixy 0
hi peeps, i have just bought a set of Schrick 268's for my vr finally, and have layed them next to the original standard ones, but there doesn't appear to be a huge amount of difference?WHat is the lift and duration of the standard items, and the lift / duration of the schricks?cheers? FishWick 21
You won't see much of a difference visually. They'll have at least +1mm more lift than standard.Stock duration is 'around' 230 I believe, but it varies. For example some very late US VR6s have assymetric cams to balance the air flow to the rear cylinders....The VR6 was "throttled down" in the 90s because of German insurance. Anything over 200hp commanded a big premium hike. So the VR6, BMW 328i etc were all comfortably under 200hp. But put better cams and revised intakes on both and the power climbs northwards instantly.....
Rixy 0
so what kind of power increase can i expect from the cams then m8?My engine was fully rebuilt last year, new block, re bore to 2.9. new pistons, rings etc. All engine was lightened, balanced, hugely ported and polished etc. I have been after these cams 4 ages, so when i fit them, all i need is a 6branch, and a de cat to go with my miltek system and all will be sorted engien wise! What kinda power should i be lookin at?cheers m8
FishWick 21
Around the 220hp mark I suspect. Depends who does the mapping,
Rixy 0
cool, who would you suggest? Storm, stealth, amd etc?? dont mind driving smewhere / a good distance if the mapping will be superior to a more local one?
FishWick 21
Of that list I'd choose Stealth every time.....
VR6Pete 1,455
always stealth for mapping. vince is the daddy
Rixy 0
coolio, stealth it'll be then, ha ha. What kinda price is a vr remap then? Is there anything i should do / make sure before i go,? I.E get the car vag com tested to make sure all sensors r working etc?
FishWick 21
Vince will VAG-COM it anyway but you're looking at around £250 + VAT for a remap.
