bulldog - both big and small light models had single lamp grilles. the 4 lamp was always on optional extra, except on the campaign.....

may have to chop and change between them..

richie.. she is not a bad one mate. i'm not gonna put the d90's on it - just was bored and did a chop for a laff really.

may have to find some 15" le castellets as they look about the same - ish..

blimey! haven't updated this for a while..

have had a busy winter on the mk1 whilst it has been hiding away in the garage. figured i'd take the opportunity (mot and tax have run out, won't be used again till april :-( ) to strip, clean and repaint most of the bits under the bonnet, so i took the rad, battery, lights, grille, bumper, airbox, water hoses and most of the vac hoses out. moved the wiring loom for lights, starter horns etc out of the way for maximum room....

this is why i am doing it...

enginecleaning6.jpg

enginecleaning2.jpg

 :omg yuck!

has obviously had a leak for quite a while....hmm this is gonna take some cleaning..... time to break out the degreaser....

enginecleaning13.jpg

so far i have done the chassis legs, front panel and have started on the top of the gearbox and the front of the block..

this could take a while?!!

started to make some good progress!

Image0152.jpg

Image0452.jpg

Image0472.jpg

still quite a way to go yet, and a few bits to get painted also. but it's definately showing signs of improvement!!! :D

i'm not taking the engine or box out, or really going to town on it - it's just getting cleaned and a few rusty black tinware pieces painted. my budget for the whole bay is £100, so it's all gotta be as cheap as poss - so far i'm on £10 for the degreaser and about a fiver on bolts, washers, clips i have ordered for the rebuild!!!!!!!!!!!

deageased, dried, prepped and painted the water pipe, water hose to head joiners, water pump and the horn bracket (still hanging to dry on the key rack... ooops..)

DSCN67012.jpg

all the wax and oil is now gone from the chassis legs and bottom of the front panel, needs polishing up still though..

more to come tomorrow hopefully.........

not too bad so far..

DSCN6689.jpg

painted the servo and master cyl, and the fuel filter bracket and clamp, and the ecu holder and the metering head too. made a start on cleaning up the wiring looms and clips after that also.

tomorrow i think i will be cleaning the bits of bulkhead i can get to and as much of the lower inner wings as i can too (down to where the wishbones mount to). then will paint the clutch arm, gearbox mount and coil bracket...

DSCN6705.jpg

(and i said i wasn't gonna go overboard!! doh!)

degreased the bulkhead and chassis legs, and the rack and mounts and as much down there as i could get to... then dried and polished all the paint work i had degreased . . . . . what a bastard that was.. i have cuts, but i won. eventually.

did the front panel too so that is all ready.

DSCN6728.jpg

enginerebuild33.jpg

then, painted the gearbox mount, and the block.

enginerebuild27.jpg

cleaned up all the head too which has come out really well . . . .

enginerebuild31.jpg

mmm shiny chassis legs...

enginerebuild26.jpg
