richievr 1
blimey! haven't updated this for a while.. have had a busy winter on the mk1 whilst it has been hiding away in the garage. figured i'd take the opportunity (mot and tax have run out, won't be used again till april :-( ) to strip, clean and repaint most of the bits under the bonnet, so i took the rad, battery, lights, grille, bumper, airbox, water hoses and most of the vac hoses out. moved the wiring loom for lights, starter horns etc out of the way for maximum room.... this is why i am doing it... :omg yuck!has obviously had a leak for quite a while....hmm this is gonna take some cleaning..... time to break out the degreaser.... so far i have done the chassis legs, front panel and have started on the top of the gearbox and the front of the block.. this could take a while?!!started to make some good progress!still quite a way to go yet, and a few bits to get painted also. but it's definately showing signs of improvement!!! i'm not taking the engine or box out, or really going to town on it - it's just getting cleaned and a few rusty black tinware pieces painted. my budget for the whole bay is £100, so it's all gotta be as cheap as poss - so far i'm on £10 for the degreaser and about a fiver on bolts, washers, clips i have ordered for the rebuild!!!!!!!!!!!
