cabrioman 6
best way to get the old coolant out is to take the bottom hose off the rad and maybe the thremostat housing to get all the coolant out the head ...to flush it well just put a hose in the top of the rad and let it run through the rad ... if u wanna flush the whole cooling system the run a flush through it but be warned that needs to be in the system and engine run for between 4 to 6 hours i think ???always ues the vw stuff g12 pink in colour ...fill it from the header tank till top and all bubbles gone then start the engine and turn the heater on and keep toppin it up till u reach the level mark ...good luck ps mine ur toes when takin the bottom hose off ....lol

Bigjobbo 0
If it helps, the cooling system on the 2.8 holds roughly 10 litres. The G12 should give you a temp guide to what you should put in. I put about 25% in mine, but i always increase it in the winter.
vr6ixy 0
I was told by a vdub mechanic the best way to fill a vr6 cooling system up is from top hose and fill header tank up just above full mark coz you loose a bit when fittin top hose back on, he said the vr6 engine is the only mk3 golf engine that will struggle to bleed itself. when toppin up open up the heater vent so it goes through matrix, only sayin what ive been told !!
