Dr.Pepper 0
My 95 VR6 started misfiring yesterday.VAG-COM didn't show me any faults.I removed the coilpack and took these pictures. There's three cracks in the plastic, could this be causing my misfire ?If I have to replace the coilpack, is gsf a good place to get it from ?Cheers for any help you can give. Dr.Pepper 0
It didn't fix the issue I'm consoling myself with the fact that the old one was cracked and it's probably only a good thing that it was replaced.Next stop, plugs...

Dr.Pepper 0
tbh it was probably best to try plugs 1st seeing as they cost a fraction of the coil pack....have u tested to see which cylinders arent sparking then swapped the leads to try and isolate the cause of the problem??Ahh, hindsight.A set of plugs is £60 from gsf and the coilpack was £140I took each lead off the coilpack while it was running and it changed every time. Each lead sparked as I put it back on.That made me think it wasn't one individual plug or lead. Then when I took off the coilpack and it was cracked, I made that assumption.Heyho.I've held off getting plugs until the weekend while I have a read around and see what other possibilities there are. Karr-Man 0
what i would do is get a couple of crocodile clips and bolt them together, attach one end to a solid metal part of the engine to get a good earth... remove one spark plug and hold it with other end of the croc-clips around the threads... plug it into the HT lead and see whether theres a strong spark...repeat for each plug, if one or two arent spraking go from there, if not then its probably a fueling issuegl
Dr.Pepper 0
The set of plugs appears to have cured it.Heyho, I suppose a new coilpack can only be a good thing...

Knightrider 1
I have a bad misfire, bought a coilpack from Trade Parts Specialists in Burgess Hill, Sussex, cost £142.89 inc. VAT. My car is a 1997 so ODB2 and the VW part number is 021905106 - it is described as 'IGNITION TRANSFORMER'. Not fitted yet, will tomorrow. Changed the plug leads today (and a couple where arcing - checked in the dark and could see it) but this has not unfortunately fixed the problem. Hoping the coilpack will sort it. Knightrider 1
Got a new coilpack - proper job VW as the non OE one had gone wrong - for £142 inc. VAT. VAG have set up a number of 'parts only' dealers who sell proper VW OE parts to the trade at good prices. They will deal with the retail punter. That is where I got mine. Find yor local one, they are good.
Knightrider 1
Did leads, plugs and then coilpack from the guys in the last post - fixed by the new coilpack, running perfectly. The knackered coilpack was a non VW OEM one by BBT Automotive of Germany. Get the VW one!
