Slimkrazy 0
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so what was wrong..2 days ago I was pulling out of a car park and all of a sudden the brake pedal started juddering and when applyed it felt a bit like there was a stone caught in the caliper. This resulted in the ABS light coming on and since then it has been on off and the problem keeps reoccuring. The actual break warning light never comes on so I am guessing that this isn't a problem with the pads?Any suggestions?
craggsy 91
Mine does this about once or twice a year........its the ABS having a moment i think
manzi 0
mine does it alot, i let my mate have a look and go in it and he's pinned it down to abs pump, mine continues to have a fit when ever i touch the brake pedal.temp long term solution is to unplug the abs. Slimkrazy 0
Is it easy to unplug? Sounds like a good temp solution
Phat VR6 3
yes but watch your back end... once unpluged your back locks before the fronts
Slimkrazy 0
Hmmm I don't like the sound of that. Any ideas how much this is to fix?
VR6Pete 1,455
Hold on there guys, dont go unplugging anything! run it through the vag-com. It could just be a sensor on the way out, I remember when I went into round-abouts too hard and the left front would lock up cus the ABS would kick in.. replaced the sensor, job done. get it on VAG-COM.Take it from me.... you DO need your ABS on the mk3...Pete
Phat VR6 3
You need the ABS working on a mk3 if its fitted....If you remove all the ABS and repumb the brakes and set it up properly (mines now running the same kind of brake set up your mk2 will be running) Then running no abs is not a problem atall, Personly i perfer it without and mine now stops quicker than a mk3 with ABS
Bigjobbo 0
I agree with Pete. Plug her in. It will most likely be a sensor. Same thing happened on mine. IMO, being able to stand on the brakes in the wet is peace of mind when there's little people in the car.
manzi 0
i had all my sensors changed and still had the problem.friend of mine said he had the same problem, he had to send his pump off to get it reconidtioned. never happened after that. wasn't cheap apparently but wasn't as expensive as a brand new one. amazak 3
Well well....my 07 Caddy Tdi does this, my 55 MK5 Gti sometimes.... bascially it seems to happen when the braking system is under pressure and in my case quite often lol.
Slimkrazy 0
Thanks guys! It was a sensor so all fixed now. A great relief!
