mark@vagworx 0
Had a few problems with the VR starting over the past week. After unarming the alarm immobiliser (Toad CAT1), turn the key and the engine fires up fine only to die a second or two later. It will do this up to 10 odd times before suddenly i'll turn the key, she fires up and stays running. It doesn't happen every day, neither every time i start the car up......90% off the time it's fine.Plugged it in the VAGCOM and it brought up an immobilisation error......i forget the fault code now. I'm assuming that i need to take the car to a car security place for them to run a test on the alarm/immobiliser.....i'm assuming they can do a diagnostic check on the unit?!?!?Any ideas people?? simonvr6 0
has your vr a coded key? if so it could be the key reader located round the ignition barrel under the cover which in turn is connected to little black transponder box located behind under the dash, above fusebox ,which connects to the ecu wiring at the fusebox.everything plugs out it could just be dirty connectors.corrosion, maybe very rare chafted wiring .vagcom wont show faults with an aftermarket immo/alarm. nedlands 0
I'm having a similar problem with mine but it is intermittent starting - sometimes just will not start but leave it for a few hours then it starts and runs fine. The difference with mine is that it just will not stat at all when it does this.We had to change the reader coil on our standard VR last month so it might be that and I have ordered it from the dealer although they claim that they have never had to do one before.....
