Bobtrude 0
I have been on rolling road today and i´m very dissapointed with my result. . . . . . it just does´nt add up. I am running 9 psi and my engine did 215 wheel hp! Thats just wrong. . . . . . . i just don´t see how this adds up. In germany my engine did 255hp at 4 psi (according to the vr6 specialist. . .). And i can keep up with my mates 911 997 Carrera S. And thats got 355 hp. He ran the test in 5th gear don´t know why. Anybody got a clue?
FishWick 21
5th gear? dyno runs should be done in 4th as it's the closest to a 1:1 ratio.9psi on a stock motor with spacer should be seeing around 300 crank power.Does it feel 300 horse? I suspect your dyno result is inaccurate.
jims13 6
9 psi, 300 hp .. im running around 9si at the mo, maybe just under..and add the cams on top...that would explain the evo fq340 , that couldnt get rid of me ditto what kev said though, 5th gear on a rr , is plain wrong
Silverback 0
I'd say 270 based on 10bhp per psi (roughly), i'm running 10psi and i'm at 300 so something ain't right there
Eat this 2
should be around the 290 hp at the crank mate thats somewhere around 230-240 at the wheels
FishWick 21
9 psi' date=' 300 hp .. im running around 9si at the mo, maybe just under..and add the cams on top...that would explain the evo fq340 , that couldnt get rid of me [/quote']Evo's are nothing mate, mine beats FQ360s with 11psi :-)My mate has actually got a 360..... boost gauge flies off the 1.5 bar end marker.....but it doesn't feel 360 horse quick. Must be something to do with it's 1500+ Kg kerbweight, ha ha!!
UnitedMotorsport 55
If the operator of the dyno chose to run your car in 5th gear, then the results arent even worth reading into....
Bobtrude 0
thanks guys I was worried for a moment, It feels REAL quick, but the dyno said otherwise but now i have new faith to m vr6 . . . . . . ALL other facts says around 300 wheel hp but not the test. . . . . .
Silverback 0
300 crank i'd say m8
Eat this 2
yeh itl be around 230-240 wheel hp mate
Phat VR6 3
doesn't sound so impressive when you start talking wheel hp does it lol
matty.vrt 120
thought cars lost like 30-40 bhp through the wheels not 60-70.
rigs 0
It works out like a percentage.20% conservative ball park.20% of 200 is 40....20% of 300 is 60....
Eat this 2
doesn't sound so impressive when you start talking wheel hp does it lol nope but how does it drive dont forget the supposedly heavy mk3 vr6 weighs 1155kg thats 50kg less than a civic type r!
jims13 6
vr's eat type r's , standard.. and a boosted one , well i havent had so much fun in ages. best thing is, is that its silent, until i go past you.. kev, perhaps a colchester meet should be arranged, exhchange road stories etc. i remember one of strech's mates (alex i think) had a lotus esprit twin turbo, spent shed loads on it, and i canned him down the 12 in my then 200sx .. i did feel sorry for him, it lasted all of 2 secs , then again so did his engine
FishWick 21
LOL! Yeah we can chav baiting round Colchester :-)Nah, the guys I like annoying are the smug gits in Audis, Boxsters and Subarus etc. They think they're driving the fastest cars in the world, especially those A3 TDI rep idiots who think a peak of 270lb/ft over 500rpm is enough to beat a ferrari!!! I love beating them! Chavs in Type Rs and things I let them get on with it, not worth burning the fuel as they're too easy :-)
H13VYY 0
lol i can't imagine how much fun i would have if i had the same power as kevhaywire. Is there any car that you lost to? or had a close race with? cmon tell us some stories!
jims13 6
he might lose to me lol, but then again, probaly not.i no what you mean about the new breed of repmobiles ..1.9tdi world land speed record breaker .its weird , its taken me a couple of days to get used to it, as im having to aproach corners etc , differently.. i forgot about the momentum the turbo gave..its also hard to scrub it off quickly. 6potmkII 0
6 speed cars get rr'd in 5th as kev said, in 4th gear the input shaft of the gearbox turns at the same speed as the output shafts givin a 1:1 ratio so 4th shouldav been used.while were on the subject of demolishing cars lol how surprised do you think the owner of this s2000 felt... and once i got traction properly, i started to catch this supercharged monaro, if i ever caught him from a rolling start, would love to see what happens... iv got 2.9 bottom end going in now, im gonna keep everthing else the same and see if i can feel much differance oh yeh power with 9 psi, stage 2 8psi vortech usualy makes anything from 270-280 and iv seen 12psi with vortech make 320-330 so around inbetween them 290-300 healthy engine cold day... kadvr6 0
my old V1 made 296bhp at 8psi
FishWick 21
lol i can't imagine how much fun i would have if i had the same power as kevhaywire. Is there any car that you lost to? or had a close race with? cmon tell us some stories!LOL. I don't go round baiting for races, but I do take issue with berks tailgating me and generally driving like a knobber behind me. Thing is, in a day and age where silly diesel hatchbacks and 1 series BMWs seem to need 245/40/18" tyres, when they're behind my 15 year old VW, wearing skinny 205 tyres and sporting a monstrous 2.5" tailpipe, they assume I'm easy pickings. Wrong :-) I dunno, I just like being the under dog waiting to attack unsuspecting, cocky reps.Anyway, my 2 favourite races so far:-1) Driving down the A14 past Cambridge when a Porsche 996 Carrera S attachs itself to my bumper, doing that swerving thing trying to see round me. So the car in front moves over and I plant it from 70mph and kept the pedal in the carpet until an indicated 135mph, then thought about a spell in prison and backed off. Porker man fell back 3 or 4 car lengths immediately and never caught up :-)2) Joining the A120 off the A12 when some complete dick wad in a new shape M3 deciced he'd try and undertake me on the slip road. Err, I don't think so, pal. So we joined the A120 side by side flat out. He fell back when I slotted 5th in and I slowed down at 150 and let him pass as that's where his limiter is :-) Feckin fast those V8 M3s, watch out! Not fast enough to beat a VRT though.....and the best thing? I still have another 30 odd psi on tap :-)
NicDale 0
My best one so far is a new DB9 convertible, 08 plate, kept in his rear view mirror from 80-130 twice, he didn't want to move out of the way
