basically, iv had her for a week. bought her last sunday from wales, and drove her the 165 miles home to devon! was a wicked drive home and had no problems wat so ever! she continued to be fine for the next three days, until wednesday mornin, she over heated on the way to work (i only live a mire ten mins down the road and there was no traffic). iv been assured that its not the head gasket cos theres no signs of oil in the water reserve, no water in the oil, oil leaks etc etc.......wat could be the problem?? a friend of mine is a mechanic, but says it doesnt seem 2 add up!

I just had this problem with mine and it was the thermostat sticking shut. I'd be 90% sure you have the same problem.

You can check by feeling the top and bottom rad hoses when the engines hot... if the top one is hot and the bottom cold then it's the thermostat or to be doubly sure take the thermostat out and see if the problem goes away.

If/when you replace the thermostat I'd recommend replacing the complete thermostat housing at the same time as they usually leak when you put them back on. It cost me £64 for the parts plus about £10 for coolant

try gfs for the bits mate' date=' make sure you ask for the "o" rings that go with the housing, but plastic bits are all the same, and i think you will find its a lot cheaper,

GSF parts are cheap because theyre usually inferior... Plastic bits aren't all the same which is why things like pattern bumpers don't fit properly ;)

Example of a GSF part, I got a blue temp sensor from there, all appeared fine, until up at Stealth, when Vince noticed it was reading 25oc below the actual coolant temp!!!! sensor was only 3 weeks old!! I only use TPS now really
