julesz 0
Hi all. Ive just been to get a belt for the Highline. Its the big ribbed belt by the airbox. Is this the only belt on a VR6? VW says £62 for it!!! Anyone know if this one from eurocarparts is the same? Its their ref 202440660...Thanks
acf8181 0
send ECP an e-mail and ask if its genuine.
julesz 0
Its not a genuine part but does the same thing.... Was just wondering if its the same...
SankysVR6 1
the last digit on the ECP part no. tell you if its genuine or not.if the last digit was a 5 it would have been genuine. the 0 means that it is an OEM which is just as good
julesz 0
Brilliant, cheers. Anyone know if these need to be fitted by VW due to special tools or tensions, or can any garage do the job? Thanks
SankysVR6 1
anybody can fit these. and if your a bit mechanically inclined you could probly do it yourself. all you need is a 8mm bolt about 4-5 inch long insert it in to the tensioner and wind up till the tension comes off the belt
andy 0
anyone can fit them mate, its quite easy to do yourself even, or certainly any garage, the tension is set automatically on a sprung loaded tensioner on the top left hand side of the engine as you look at it. from memory you simply screw a bolt into the threaded hole in the tensioner, which releases the belt tension, remove the belt, put new one on, remove the bolt from the tensioner and thats it, 5 or 10 min job
cliveyp 0
everyone is soo blazee about this belt!! I need mine doing but ain't got round to it yet. I keep getting told "easy job" blah blah blah, but it really looks a tight fit down there!! If you get it done mate, tell me how easy from your point of view!! Cheers! SankysVR6 1
i did mine myself you might need to take the air box off or the induction kit to gain more access have a look in the engine section
antera309 3
Yes, if you take the airbox out, this job is a LOT easier.
six appeal 53
And easier still of you jack up car and take drivers side wheel off, and plastic cover on inner wheel arch, not necessary mind, but makes it so much easier IMO.Just make sure you do a little sketch of where the belt goes incase you 4get!
