sanchez 0 Posted November 8, 2008 Report Share Posted November 8, 2008 hey all. my car is costing me a fortune. got the starter fixed couple of weeks ago because it wasnt starting; problem solved! got in the car 2day and nothing!!!!!!!!!!!! checked voltage at battery, 12 volts. then checked power at starter 11.75 volts. surely it cant be the starter again????????????? cabrioman 6 Posted November 9, 2008 Report Share Posted November 9, 2008 so ur gettin battery voltage at the starter on the big cable, also getting battery voltage to the smaller wire when cranking and the earth is good yeah ?? not an auto is it ??and it didnt help jumpin from another car no ?? sanchez 0 Posted November 10, 2008 Author Report Share Posted November 10, 2008 i fitted it. not paying some apprentice to do an easy job! maybe thats my downfall!! my car overheated last week spilled water on the fan control unit and fecked that. connected???? how do you test the starter when its off? gettin sick of pushing the car to go anywhere. neighbours must be laughing at me, im always tinkering with it!!!!! cabrioman 6 Posted November 10, 2008 Report Share Posted November 10, 2008 take it off ... put some jump leads from the battery to the main postive conection and the earth then get a small wire and go from the main postive to the signal conection and see if it engages the starter and spins ... best to put it in a vice and watch ur fingers if it does nothin its buggered if it works theres a prob with the car mate Link to post Share on other sites
