bryanvr6 0
I remember when I had a VR years ago there was lots of debate/myth about the OBD2 being more pwerful - is there really any truth to this? I am currently looking at buying another VR and this is something Im taking into consideration.Personally, I have driven both, a few different cars - and every time I "feel" like the OBD2 is faster, but could be down to lower mileage/better looked after... all in the mind etc etc.So is there anything official on this that anyone knows for sure?Cheers all
VR6Pete 1,455
see that search box above your thread? type in OBD1 VS OBD2 Its been covered a bajjilion times on here already hehe
bryanvr6 0
cheers it seems as if nobody really knows if OBD2 is faster or not. Looking at it, the only main differences are the management, brakes, aesthetics - but engine power/performance remains the same?
vr6madmike 0
OK OBD2 IS FASTER - hows that?

jesterwalker69 0
engine power/performance remains the same? No. OBDI = 175bhp where as OBDII = between 180-190bhp. The extra power was available as OBDII was a more efficient management system i am lead to believe.
bryanvr6 0
Thanks mate, thats the kind of info I was looking for... cheers
H13VYY 0
even vw official figures were released as both the obd1 and obd2 having the same power..this has been proved incorrect as obd2 get 185bhp as standard on rolling road. my obd2 has got a miltek exhaust along with a bmc filter and i beat my mate in his 03 plate CTR from 0-60 with him slightly going ahead after 80mph. bryanvr6 0
a friend of mine had an accord type R when I had my last OBD2. Straight (private ) road and all the way to around 130 there was sod all in it, and my VR was standard. That said, i think my VR was very running very strong, having been pampered most of its life and only 50k on the clock. on a back road it was a different story however, as I was on standard springs, it was like trying to race a gokart with my bag of bananas.
