binliner, I've always anticipate £1000 when dealing with a property as sometimes you can run into extra problems with the property i.e. access over drives, planning for extensions etc...

But your right you can get conveyancing for £250.

I went ahead and bought in April and now I'm selling the VR. It's not the running costs that I'm worried about (in reality it's not that much more than a 'normal' car) but I could really use the capital I've got tied up in the car.

You can get the conveyancing for £250 but that won't include all the set fees they'll have to pay.

Nick (Antera309) and I were discussing the current market speculation the other day. Maybe they'll go up, maybe they'll come down. No-one actually knows so there's little point in you trying to guess.

If you want to get a good idea of how much you can borrow try www.charcol.com - it'll take 20 mins to put in all your details but then it'll search every lender (except Britannia, who I went with and can recommend) and let you know what's available to you.

we ended up going with Nationwide for ours, as our financial advisor found us a cracking FTB deal. It's always best to find an independant advisor to talk through things with you and not try to push you into anything. That would be my first step.

Our place cost us 125k, although listed at 140k. We had a good deposit of over 10% and a combined income of just over 40k. I had to sell the Corrado due to needing some of the capital tied up in it, hence why i bought the MK3. Now we have a bit to get us buy, but we certainly will never be flush! Our payments are about 550 pm, plus all the extra charges for payment protection, insurances etc. It really ain't a cheap hobby!! Mods to the car will definately stop.

Bloody hell!!

Here in Kingston/Richmond area for a SHITE small 1 bedroom, no parking, concreate garden you'd be lucky to find one at under £200k!!

Renting here is a killer too, dont see myself getting a morgage soon at alll!!

Currently it stands at £350 EACH in a house of 5 per month! :(

i got my 1st house earlier this year at the age of 24.

It cost about £225,000 with the stamp duty and solicitors fees etc.

1st time buying is a right pain, you need a decent deposit to get any sort of decent mortgage.

I ended up with Abbey National. I used an independant mortgage advisor and cuz of my age and salary they were the only people willing to give me a mortgage I thnk!

Having to shell out over £875 per month though - Which sucks - Hence why i've still got a very standard looking 5dr VR6!!

Its good though, in 6 months my house has increased by at least £25k.

I've also got a condo (apartment) in Toronto. Bought this with my bro. Costing us about £135k.

However we only had to put down about £10k each and they give you a mortgage very easily out there.

You get a great return in rental - which was the reason why we've got it in the 1st place.
