julesz 0
Anyone know if a Mk4 'Sport' style gear knob will fit onto a Mk3? I know the wooden one is part of a highline being a highline, but it really doesnt fit in with the rest of the interior...
binliner 0
it will fit but needs some modification
Slim 0
I think I'm right in saying that the hole in the Mk4 knob is thicker than the shaft on the Mk3 stick so it's a case of thickening the shaft or padding the hole. My mate has a Mk4 knob in his Mk3 and i think he wrapped card around the shaft and squeezed the knob on.And yes, I am talking about cars here.
julesz 0
How does the shift rod attach at the other end? Is is possible to use the Mk4 rod as well, and modify the other end??
binliner 0
I didnt need to pad mine out, it fitted pretty snugly just needed a hose clip to hold it in place... They dont have a thread and seem to sit higher than mk3 ones so you need to either make a hole in the plastic on the underneath of the gear knob (to push the shaft through) or cut a bit of the end of your shaft(!) acf8181 0
none for the polo one.
julesz 0
yeah, i like it. I think i prefer the aluminium/leather style ones, but the interior doesnt really have any aluminium, and the idea from the start was that the wooden one doesnt match. hmmm, the girlfriend has a mk4 polo. I wonder if she fancies a wooden one... Are they the same on GTi's and alll the others?
acf8181 0
think they're all the same on mkIV polo's which isn't a nice knob anyway. mkV's have a few different ones, i suspect the gti one is quite nice. think most mkVI polo's have the same as mine, dont there are any sporty models. julesz 0
ahh, so the Polo Mkxx isnt the same as the Golf Mkxx? What dates are MkV and MkVI polo's?
acf8181 0
mkIV (6N) polo - '95-'99mkV (6N2) polo - '99-'03mkVI (9N) polo - '03-the dates may be one year out, but you get the idea. i'm pretty sure all the gearknobs of all those polo's are the same as mkIII golf.
