Roan 0
Bear with me folks on this one. I have searched this forum and others but haven't been able to get a definitive answer. My PCV valve was cracked and leaking, so I ordered one from Ford as you do. Before I was able to collect and fit it, I noticed the car was a bit hesitant on half throttle at low-ish revs. I put this down to the leaking breather. So I fitted the breather, and noticed there was a bit more oil around the old pipework than I had expected. I checked the oil and it appeared to be very low (as in, no reading from the dipstick at all!) Put a litre in and will be putting some more in tonight. Car was still hesitant so I ran VAG-COM and got fault codes:00522 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor -G6201247 EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve -N8001259 Fuel Pump Relay Circuit -J17I have heard that the temp sensor might cause poor running so I will re-scan tonight and fit a new one if it's still faulty. Don't think the other two codes are relevant...Could the oil use be down to the leaking breather alone (didn't notice any smoke from exhaust at any time over the least few weeks)? Could the low oil and/or faulty temp sensor make the car run a bit hesitant and judder at low revs? It doesn't feel like a misfire but I will check the coilpack/leads and plugs tonight. Plugs and leads were changed just over a year ago so I don't expect it to be the problem.Any thoughts appreciated...
SankysVR6 1
I would put the hesitant and poor running down to the temp senor. As for the oil use, how many miles have you done since you last checked. The Vr's do tend to use a fair amount of oil. I think the book says '1 litre for every 1000miles'
Roan 0
I would usually go through about 1 litre for every 1000 miles, but have only done about 1500 since I last topped it up. Could have used a couple of litres I suppose given the leak as well...
Roan 0
Well I replaced the blue temp sensor and the car's running a lot better. I ran VAG-COM today though, and I'm still getting the 00522 fault code even though I've cleared it twice! Argghhh!!!
