VR6 short shifter ?

Recommended Posts

Right, got some angel eyes and a neuspeed quick shift for the VR6 from awesome gti on friday, fitted the angel eyes in the morning with no problems. BUT the short shifter was another story......the instructions weren't very clear, and they were no pictures to show anything. Result, couldn't dismantle the original shifter. Has anyone fitted one of these before, and does anyone know how to do it ?

Many Thanks in advance :)

125 quid + the VAT from awesome (got it a bit cheaper cos Jim's the man)

the main problem i found (after taking the drivers seat out to get the centre console off) was the "bolt" which connects the shifter the the metal frame couldn't be pulled out all the way as the chassis had a little lip on it which was blocking it. I should've taken pics, cos its really hard to explain. I tried "dropping" the whole shifter bit down but to no avail. Apparently they fit very easily.

I put one on not that long ago.

Like you said, american instructions are useless!!

Wasn`t dificult at all. 20mins max...

The only problem was the that one of the clips were wrong.. They supply a c clip, and the original is a split pin (youll see when you do it on one of the moving pivots) hard to explain, but you have to drill 1mm hole in the new pivot..

no probs, might take a few days,as I have already installed mine, its very short now,be best if you can get a shifter mech from the scrappy so you can go back to standard if t goes wrong!

will take some pics of the standard one and then show you where to cut and modify.
