binliner 0
Ok bit of a vague question but why is the radio reception on my new HU so crap? Its a Pioneer DEHP5600 I think... The aerial and everything is unchanged but the reception on the factory fit sony unit was much betteralso when I've been driving for a while with either the heating or aircon on the CD gets hot or cold (had to turn the unit off because the aircon caused condensation!) dubloke 4
presumably the connection is secure in the unit itself, hard to tell without taking it back out i know, but may have come loose slightly when pushing it home? the high temp is down to the fact that most modern headunits use mosfet amp ciruitry to power the units which, while more powerfull, also generate more heat in the unit itself. the fact it sit directly above the heater vents is also not going to help! i have a pioneer myself and although have no probs on reception, the unit does run warm! binliner 0
Its not that the unit is hot but rather that the unit and disk inside seem to be changing temp according to what the heater is doing... maybe I just never noticed this before because I had the cds in the changer! six appeal 53
I have the DEH-P3600MP in my Mk2 Justin and have noticed that the reception doesn't seem as good on it as the Sony Headunit I had in it before (ie My old VR H/Unit)Maybe Sony's just have a good aerial?Other than that its a cracking headunit which I only paid £100 inc. delivery, brand new! acf8181 0
do you have to use an aerial adapter for the pioneers and not the sony's? cause i had poor reception with a poor connection on one, bent the adapter open slightly and its perfect now. oh, and the temp change is normal, i've always had that. did make the unit overheat a few times in winter in my old punto tho.
