crish72 0
Was fine when i came to work - just nipped out and it feels like it's running on 5 cylinders - very lumpy when i rev - although it ticks over at a constant rpm and doesnt feel too bad at higher speeds..Any suggestions where to start?Plugs are Magnecor with about 5k on them so that should rule them out. Thanks for your helpChris

craggsy 91
Something simple to try......just make sure that leads are seated right on the spark plugs.....if not on right can cause an intermittent problem
crish72 0
Bit of an update..thelumpyness is actually a miss..Checked all the plugs/leads today and 3 of them had oil on them :-\, so i cleaned them and the leads up and went for a spin. Still missing but not as bad as it was.So what causes oil on the plugs? hopefully me cleaning them has sorted that?Does it sound like it could be the Coil Pack? or should i stick to finding out why the plugs were covered in oil? I'm kinda stuck for ideas now.ThanksChris
xyber 1
Was it oil or unburnt fuel and carbon? It's also possible the plugs werent torqued up so you were getting blow pastI'd get new plugs and leads and vagcom it to start
crish72 0
It was defo oil but only on 3 plugs and It is very possible they werent torqued up.Ran my ocde reader and there arent any fault codes.

Phat VR6 3
did you change your maf? Or at least unplug your old one? Make sure its the right way roundHow old are your spark plugs? Change them if there old..If you disconnect one lead at a time while its running can you hear a difference... If you pull a lead and engine noise doesn't change then thats where your porblem is... In which case try swapping said lead to see if there an improvmentAltho leads are new you could be unlucky enuff to have a faulty one plus some people pull the lead it selft when removing them which can cause damage
crish72 0
/\ Done all that thanks - turns out i had a mixture of dodgy leads and plugs, swapped em yesterday and the car is now running sweet again :-p Although 2 of the leads popped off today and i thought i was back to square one again, fortunately i wasnt..pheww...Even so that means my original plugs and leads only lasted about 10k!Thanks for the helpChris
