Hi all. Two things really. I was having a little poke around in the engine bay before, as you do after washing polishing for hours etc etc. Id removed the cone from the air filter after reading about it on different forums, havent had a chance to test it yet but what do people think about it? ?! Free mod said to be worth 5 horses. After putting it all back together i noticed a strange whistling/sucking noise coming from a part just to the left of the main engine block. It looks like something snapped or sheared through :o leaving a pipe open. Very worrying. Looks like a fuel pump but smaller, about 8cm long attached into a hose by jubilee clips either end. Im not sure what the part is but i managed to clean it up enough to get the number. 021 129 101 A if anyones got the ETKA handy could they help me out? Sorry about the length of the post but id like to get to the stealers armed with at least a little info. Cheers

You are talking about the evap control valve. This valve regulates the venting of fuel tank fumes into the engine manifold. Its an emissions thing. The suction of the engine is what draws the fumes through. As you've broken it, the manifiold is now sucking on fresh air and not the excess fuel fumes. Assuming you've broken it on the engine side of the valve (as you can hear it sucking all the time) get it fixed as soon as possible as, in effect, you now have a nice vacuum leak into the manifold.
