water temp light

my water temp light is constantly flashing but the level is ok and heater comes on fine any idea thanks

could be the sensor in the expansion bottle

hmm thanks anyway which sensor on thermo housing would trigger the light on the dash do you know i have replaced the blue one about 6 months ago so hope its not that one thanks for the help

there is a sensor in the expansion bottle itself a new bottle will be needed

right today there is now a strange whininnng noise from under the bonnet can only say its on the pass side somewhere also the temp/water light comes on weather hot or cold does anyone haqve any ideas i got a bottle from a mk3 gti but its slightly smaller so didnt fit it will it be ok

The whining will be the aux water pump no doubt. Just above coilpack under plastic covers

yeah that should be ok i used the one from my 2.0 for about a yr or so no probs just make sure the plug fitts , should do .

thought the aux pump only ran when the engine of it seems mine runs with it on and turns offf when i turn the engine off if that makes sense

will try the bottle then and see if its the sensor cheers
