big hef 0 Posted January 2, 2009 Report Share Posted January 2, 2009 hi all bought my vr6 a couple weeks ago , and over the past week the engine has started tappin, anyone had this before ??? , i know the injectors make a clickin noise but, this is a different kinda noise, any suggastions would be appriciated. spindat45 0 Posted January 2, 2009 Report Share Posted January 2, 2009 Have you changed the oil and filter since you've had it? If you haven't I'd start with that. Also is the noise coming from the top of the engne? Sounds like it could be the hydraulic lifters which will be more noticable now its colder and until the oil circulates and reaches full operating temperature..Kevin Link to post Share on other sites

golfman1993 0 Posted January 17, 2009 Report Share Posted January 17, 2009 i had this on my vr the other day got really worried about tappets, timing chains etc so last night let it warm up fully and its sorted it as said above if its still noisy once warmed up try the oil filter. also if its any help my noise was coming from the drivers side of the engine not the chains side Link to post Share on other sites
