Ben Seabrook 4
Need to get some new suspension for the car, after bunging the charger on have noticed a bit more lean and roll. Have been looking at the couple of kits below - what do you guys reckon or any other suggestions ?http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?product=3764013http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?product=3754984
spindat45 0
Most would suggest saving a couple of hundred more and getting a decent coilover set up with height and ride adjustment. That will stiffen the car up a whole lot more and make it handle a lot better. If you are on a budget ((as I was) and still want to improve on a standard set up then I'd recommend the G-Max kit. I've had that on mine for nearly two years and I'm now running the same charger as you with no issues. I wouldn't say it's track perfect but the ride is a lot firmer than standard but not harsh and the height is ideal for normal road use. I have no problems with the numerous speed bumps in my area.. The kit is also slightly cheaper than the two above but imo does not lack quality. The money you save could go towards poly bushing your front wishbones which I did when I charged mine and it's improved the handling greatly. I ordered a set for a relatives MK3 GTi earlier today. Here's the link for the 40VW25 Kit for a VR.http://www.gmaxsuspension.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=1473_1589_1628_1662&products_id=1250745If you're interested, give Russ a call direct on 01604670103 (cheaper than the 0844 number). He was quite helpfulAnother trusted combination is Koni shocks with Eibach springs. Not sure of prices or suppliers thoughKevin

spindat45 0
Just seen these Raceland coilovers on Flea bay at the same price as the hot tuning ones on there. Probably much the same as they're both from Belgiumhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RACELAND-ADJUST-COILOVER-SUSPENSION-KIT-VW-GOLF-MK3_W0QQitemZ220303215950QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item220303215950&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

Never seen the G-Max kit before but that looks pretty decent - but would it be better than the two I posted up ??

I didn't and still don't want to lose the comfort of the VR and that was my main concern when I was deciding which set up to go for. I don't know of anybody with either of those two set-ups so I wouldn't like to say they're better or worse. I was the same as you with regards to adjusting height and I used to be in the trade. I just wanted to fit them, do the tracking and camber and drive it without getting motion sickness everytime I drove on an uneven road. I took a bit of a gamble as I had only read up on here about G Max but it was the right choice for me given the amount I use the car and the road conditions in London. What suspension do you have on the car at the moment and what size wheels do you have? Wheel size also affects the way the car feels/handles a fair bit.

spindat45 0
If you were a little closer I'd offer to take you out for a spin so see what you think. I've got 17's on mine but i did drive it with the 15's when i first lowered it. It sat a a nice height even then but the TT Comps had to go on. .If you haven't already, take a look at the thread on my car http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?119591.post to see the sort of height with standard wheels on and then with the 17's. nivag27 5
Ben I have Gmax on mine and while they are ok the front does seem to bounce a bit to much for my liking. They need to be stiffer imo and I also wish i had put collies on in the first place, thats what I would recommend but saying that the g max kit is ok for the £220 I paid
