As i can get a more accurate description in here, rather than stupidly longs posts in the chatbox, i'll post this here too!

I pulled off the drive this morning, and a loon came flying right up behind me (we live in a 30 limit, and he was no where to be seen whn i pulled out). The only thing to do, put my foot down, which with the car being cold, i really didn't want to do. Anyway, i did that and at about 3500rpm it just died. I lost all power and it just slowed down. Lifted off and it made no difference, tried to accelerate and again, still nothing. Put my foot on the clutch and it died. Bumped it when it was still rolling and it started, but then died straight away. Came to a stop and tried to start on the key, all i got was a whir from the motor, but nothing seemed to engage. Tried after a minute or so and it seemed to crank over a couple of times but not fire, i tried again and finally it caught, but seemed to be running on 5. It was almost like it had over fuelled itself and flooded. After a matter of secconds it cleared and is now fine again! B)

I'm a bit confused by this, as it just doesn't seem right. I was wondering if it had been chipped and this is an over fuelling thing caused by that?? My main reason for thinking that it was chipped was that it drives soo much better than the Corrado did. Also, on having some fun on local roads last night, i found my rev limiter on more than one occasion. It seems to cut in at over 7k, is this normal???

i haven't actually checked that, i must admit. I want to get rid of the one that's on there anyway, as it's one of the Green cones, and it annoys me. I don't know why, but i've never liked the Green ones......

Perhaps Vince could help me out more at the RR day. I'll give him a ring before hand i think and see what he has to say....

Clive, don't panic, same thing happened to mine when I had to boot it from cold one time to avoid a collision! (Twat in a 205GTI with no lights on at 5am in morning and doing double the speed limit as I pulled out of my road!) :o

Its just the auto choke getting all confused! I seriously thought I had bent a valve or worse on mine and was fuming with the little scrote in the Pug! It was missing and cutting out etc.... Was preparing for the worse.

Limped it home and left it for a little while (as I calmed down) and prepared to diagnose what was wrong! Turned it over fired up fine and has been ok ever since (this happened early this year!)

So fingers crossed for ya mate, its all ok! ;)

Great! Cheers for that! Really shat myself that i was gonna be in for a seized engine until it finally started up again, then once it started i didn't know what to think, apart from where i could enrol on a mechanics course quick sharp!

Cheers guys, it's sat down in the car park at work now, probably feeling all sad for itself, so just a case of keeping me fingers crossed that it's OK when i leave.

guys, it has happened to me too!!!! when i first got my vr6!

It coughed and spluttered and felt like it was running on a few cylinders, for about 20 seconds then it calmed down and got on with its business.

i've learnt that while in london, i drive straight off (as per the instruction manual, not good to let it idle warm up).

but in milton keynes where i have to drive off on to a motorway almost instantly from my house, i let her warm up a bit before driving away, Yes okay you can all bite my head off for doing this, but i'd rather do this and have access to my engine's power fully rather than have an accident becuase i can't or dont want to take her over 3000rpm (until the oil is at 70).....sorry...cant be helped.

its rather like jumping a red light becuase stopping would cause an accident behind you....becuase some idiot cant drive.

Sorry to be a complete dumb ass but are you saying it's best not to let it warm up before driving it??? B)

aye' date=' something like that. If you read the book it tells you to drive off straight away but not to use excessive revs until up to temperature. I think sitting at tickover to warm up can make your plugs shitty or something.....[/quote']

Yeh can coke up the plugs if just left to sit and idle when cold, due to over fuelling (plus a very small chance of bore washing!)

Best to start it up and drive it staright away but keep a limit on your revs/thrashing till the oil/water is nice and warm!
