leon 0
Hi guys and girls need some advice from the wise vdubbers, my oil pump decided to stop working and as a result took out the lower half of the engine, the engine has done 145,000 miles so was gona rebuild and charge it but if it doesn't cost much more to swap over to an r32 engine would prefer to do that, an ideas how much this would set me back? the car is a 97 vr6, any other ideas ? All advice welcome thanks for your help. Leon
jesterwalker69 0
Rebuild and turbo!
leon 0
How much do you reckon that would set me back?
jesterwalker69 0
Probably less then an R32 conversion but would at least be keeping the originality of having a VR6 engine!
leon 0
Do you have a ruff idea? was quoted 3 grand for a rebuild
jesterwalker69 0
Depends how much bhp you want. Strictly Dubs do a drive in drive out turbo conversion for around the 5k mark and that will give you between 320-370bhp Turbo Kit I'm sure if you spoke to them and discussed your needs they could give you a price for the kit, fitting, re-mapping AND any rebuilding that you require
wkd928 0
is the oil pump a known weak point for this engine?
Moochalargo 0
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm R32

Lizard Racing 0
You can go R32 for less then 2K easily! Its only an engine, exhaust manifold, throttle and wiring/management.
mike 6
Do you have a ruff idea? was quoted 3 grand for a rebuild thats insane dont pay thatif you think you can get a good condition milage vr same as yours for 2k or less these days! and you could pro get near a grand in parts off your if you stripped it... maybe...id say r32 it, or buy a new car.... jesterwalker69 0
I got a quote from Stealth Racing for an R32 engine swap. It was round the 2.5k just for fitting, getting running and re-map, time on rollers etc. That price didnt include the engine.I also rang Awesome and you would not believe the tripe he fed me!! Apparently "way too much work to fit an R32 engine, lots of custom fabricated parts needed" therefore it would cost me over 10k just for fitting!!!!! *cough* boll0cks* cough* He then proceeded to try and sell me a 1.8T conversion for 6k including the engine!Alex was your 2k estimate based on just fitting the engine or including buying the engine as well?! leon 0
Il prob give stealth a call then see if they can give me a price because if they would only charge 2.5k to fit it and get it running plus the price of an engine i dont think its to bad a price for the fun ul have, thanks alot guys for your advice
kadvr6 0
10k for fitting an r32 engine, they must be bloody dreaming. Mines cost me approx 1.8k for engine, 6 branch, and ecu plus allowing for vinces payment for the re-map he's currently undertaking.
jesterwalker69 0
1.8k for all that AND fitting it?!?
kadvr6 0
actually fitting an r32 into a vr6 is no more difficult than swapping a vr6 for a vr6 engine.
jesterwalker69 0
So where did you get urs fitted or did you do it yourself?
kadvr6 0
i did it myself.
jesterwalker69 0
Ah thats rubbish, not good enough with a spanner to do it myself!Anyone confident enough to do it for me?!
VR6BOY 2
I seen a .:R32 corrado in stealth on Monday gone 25th getting work done on it
kadvr6 0
I seen a .:R32 corrado in stealth on Monday gone 25th getting work done on it that was mine, did it have odd alloys and an odd interior in it??
VR6BOY 2
Yeah Black BBS RC's on the front and didnt really get the chance to have a look around it but from what i seen of it looks like a nice tidy car should be cool when finished and the exhaust manifold is stunning
gavinvr6 0
i wouldnt mind an r32 swap. if its a case of engine plus engine loom clocks keys ecu, that shouldnt be to hard to do....famous last words. plus with the vr6 box bolting straight on its gotta be a worthwhile swap. but just out of curiosity imassuming the same can be said for the new r36 lump since its basically still the same engine just bigger. hmm how much can i get for my knackers?
