rigs 0
Sounds like it's time to dig out the wiring diagrams and poke around to me...

russj249 2
are the fans on the vr6 controlled by the ECU? if so we had a right game trying to sort that out on diagnostics on a fiesta controlled by ECU.If even unplugged it spins, must mean it's got power from somewhere it's not meant to.. Maybe a relay has stuck open or something so it's just powering up constantly..
orangecruz 0
no mate has its own controll module
thegoth 5
no mate has its own controll modulewhich is prone to water damage as it lives directly under the header tank.
orangecruz 0
so is that you saying thats what it could be or just a statement is ther any way to test this unit
thegoth 5
just a statement. I guess to test will be a multimeter job to see which connections have / havent got voltage
orangecruz 0
thanks at least you have a sensible suggestion un like some cheers
thegoth 5
I try...Which fan switch did you unplug? Can you tell if the fans are running at low or high speed all the time?
orangecruz 0
its running at high speed soon as ign is on i unplugged the fan sensor/swich on the rad
thegoth 5
according to my wiring diagrams there is also a 'third speed coolant fan control' switch (F165). Not sure where that is, might be one in the 'stat housing.
orangecruz 0
i thought it was the yell one but unplugged that this morn and it still happened getting sick of it now instead of nice vr roar it sounds like a sodding great hoover
thegoth 5
the only suggestion I have left is to unplug the other one as well in case it's not the yellow one!
rigs 0
The only way of fault finding it (short of swapping it with another known good unit) is to get a multimeter on the sensor connections using the wiring diagrams (available on 'net) as reference. You've tried a few obvious things and have a good idea what to investigate so hop to it. Sadly, as far as I'm aware, there aren't any vr6oc members who are both psychic and proficient in telekinesis so it looks like you're going to have to do it the hard way! orangecruz 0
cheers rigs i wasnt after someone to do it for me but as a lot of dub things seem to be common i thought someone might havve had the same issue
rigs 0
It's all on page 3 & 4 of the wiring diagrams pdf that you should be able to find... not going to post it as I'm unsure of legality of it!You've proved it's not the sensors fault by unplugging it. Now you need to prove it's not a wiring short with your multimeter. If it isn't then it's the unit itself.
