I've bought a 2nd engine to prep for turboing but its got a hole in the bottom end, also have a spare block with it though so can combine to 2 to get a nice fresh vr for turbotime.

What I wanna know if what parts should I be replacing when the block is stripped down? Whats essential, whats ptional etc.

if its in bits then i would change every wearing surface ie' date=' bearings, guides, chains, + seals and gaskets, oil pump etc. might as well do it all at once whilst its stripped.

yeah we still go mate, although there isnt much vw stuff about at the mo, everyone has a project in bits!
