jaysVR6 2
Guys I'm trying to get my missus to get rid of her piece of shite Peugeot crappy, piece of tin 206 and get a Lupo GTI. Any advice to convince her?Whats the general opinion of them? She wont get a VR (too porweful )Got about 6-7 grand. Something a little pokey for a girl.
acf8181 0
i'd push her towards a SEAT ibiza cupra instead if i were you...then you don't have to deal with shitty vw service departments (presuming SEAT are better tho)
VR6Steve 0
If its definitely a Lupo she wants, I'd get a 100bhp 16v. Sadly after all the grief I had with my Polo GTi (and heard what others have had too), I would not go near another one of those 1.6i 16v engines. I loved that car too :-(
jaysVR6 2
Humm, now you've really thrown me. She wont go near the thought of a Seat. I must get her to get rid of that bloody French piece of junk!
acf8181 0
vw's aren't that great really...they cost shit loads to fix if they do break. is the pug reliable? if so, keep it.
MarkGolf 6
The Lupo GTI is by farrrrr, well corrado's slightly ahead, but by far teh BEST VW made!!!Although it wont be yours, just go and test drive one (If you can find one) and you'll see why it is soo good!Ok, its not got balls out power, but for the driving experience, you cna't beat it unless you fork out for a serious car! It is soo nippy and the handling is just spot on, when I've have the pleasure of driving these cars, I loved every minute! I think they look cool too, if it wasn't associated as being a girls car I'd defo get one! A great car to drive and damn rare!!If she wont go for the GTi, the 1.4 Sport was also an enjoyable drive, not quite as fun due to a smaller track and less power, but must admit, that put a smile on my face throwing it around the hill roads of Box hill! She'll defo be up your arse in the Lupo, especially on the twists![ Edited Fri Oct 29 2004, 11:29PM ]
RALA 0
No swearing please , Keep the PUG are you made VW every time.
jaysVR6 2
Think we'll go for a test drive in one (if I can find one) The PUG is reliable but blody hell, its like driving a tennins shoe. The gear change is awful, its to light, wheelspins badly, even though its got no power. Understeers around every corner, the engine sounds like a concrete mixer and it vibrates like a vibrating thing!Granted its no performance hatch but jesus, its not even safe, I'd hate to be in a smack in it.Oh and the interior is falling apart and its only 18 months old!!!! acf8181 0
ok, if she (not you ) don't like the pug then maybe it is time to move on.what cars does she like?
jaysVR6 2
Shes not a big car freak like us. ( x) ). I think she just needs ideas putting into her head and given options. It'll have to be quite new, cos shes one of the girls that doesn't appreciate the fact that you get value for money buying an older used car. Unless I can convince her
binliner 0
Go for the lupo... she wont be dissapointed. Theres a couple of them at Junction29 (the gti got 135bhp at the rr day!) theyre light, nippy and fun to drive... as well as being one of the coolest looking new dubs.ignore acf, his VR6 keeps going wrong so he's a bit bitter and twisted where VW are concerned
acf8181 0
lol - got me in one binlinereven so, you do get better value from money from other badges though, though from the sounds of it a skoda octavia (the sporty one) won't be her thing!EDIT - not octavia, thats the large saloon, whats the little one called?[ Edited Sat Oct 30 2004, 10:49AM ]

jaysVR6 2
Big money though aren't they?
Guest Olly_K
buy her a VR. She'll soon get used to the "power", as you put it.Then you can give her all the bits you dont want and buy new bits for yours
acf8181 0
actually, unless she likes going fast on the motorway i'd say a gti 8v is a better buy...certainly very nice to drive around town, rev up really quickly. plus cheaper to insure than vr.but from the sound of it mkIII's are to old. certainly well below budget. maybe mkIV tdi?[ Edited Sat Oct 30 2004, 01:10PM ]
