Pulling left, steering twitch and 4 wheel alignment advice please.

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Last week I had numerous repairs carried out due to pulling left, vibration and droning noise. I had these replaced: 2 x rear shocks, Inner CV joint, Rear pads and discs, rear bearings, tie rod ends (191419811) engine mount rear. All 4 wheels were balanced to (some weights were way out I was told).

The vibration and droning had gone BUT it still pulls left. I find myself pulling right with some force to keep the car straight, I have done the tests of driving on the other side of road and flat roads and it always pulls left. The steering wheel naturally sits at the 11 o'clock when it’s left alone on the straight and 1 o'clock when I keep the car straight on any surface.

Also, when doing left and right turns, I feel a pulling / twitching feeling, it’s like I’ve hit a oil patch or ice and the steering wheel twitches away from me for a split second.

I've been quoted £45 for a 4 wheel alignment and camber adjust on a Hunter Engineering Wheel Alignment equipment machine. is this good or bad?

Shall I go for this or not as I don’t want to throw money away if it could be something else wrong?

Thank you for any help.

sounds like u need to have the alignment checked fella the camber being out will affect the car pulling it should also show up if there is something bent £45 is not a bad price i would say with adjustments .

what he said !! defo worth having it done mate if you have had the wheels off and shocks, brakes etc changed and for £45 that sounds a good price

alrite mate ye my vr is doing exactly the same thing pulling to the left an i've been quoted exactly the same price of £45 for 2 hours labour. You just wanna make sure that the garage that does your tracking uses GPS laser alignment an you shouldn't go far wrong

Hi mate, I was told he'd need 45 minutes to an hour to do all what was needed. I'm taking it in a 4pm today and hope I come out with a car that drives straight! I'll keep you posted. I think the HawkEye stuff they use is ok...

"HawkEye™ high-definition digital imaging alignment employs patented technology to offer shops the multiple benefits of precision, high-speed alignment and greater productivity, in a minimum of bay space. Measures camber, caster, toe, thrust angle, SAI, IA, Toe-Out-On-Turns† and Maximum Steering Angle†. "

Ah cool i know that place.

I take it you been there to get this done then mate? If so how much did they charge you?

Where abouts are you then mate?

Did it for £40 cash before I went to the ring last year then they made minor adjustments it when I got back.

I'm in Knebworth, Herts, I tried a place in Hertford before I went to Mr Uniques & they wanted £150 & to keep it for 3 hours!!
