kcw 1
Really not big with that a/r? Hope not its a really good price and has a nearly new turbo jacket.
MaidenVR6 26
0.96 exhaust will be alot off fun! Just wait until 3800-4000 rpm hits... Your gearbox will work some overtime shifts at the factory:)Hope you have a LSD diff. If not, get one.
kcw 1
Well I'll try get my hands on it, cheers for the advice maiden.Would a Tial 38mm wastegate still be big enough?
FishWick 21
If you planning on running < 15psi, then I would get the Tial 44mm.
kcw 1
Doubt I'd run any more than 15psi, that turbo would probably make about 400 bhp at that pressure would it not?
FishWick 21
A little more I'd say. GT30s usually give 400 @ 15psi. Your T04R is GT35R sized, so a lot more flow.Go for the 44mm WG, will work a LOT better at low boost than the 38mm.

kcw 1
The turbo doesnt have one of the anti surge housings which I had been wanting, would I be able to just take it down to an engineering shop to have the holes drilled or is there more to it than that?Ken
MaidenVR6 26
The turbo doesnt have one of the anti surge housings which I had been wanting' date=' [/quote']Why do you need it? I asume its a good price on the turbo, and its used?Do you want anti surge, because it looks cool on pictures??
kcw 1
Nah more cos they sound shit hot wth the anti surge houseing thats all, love the whine you ge of turbos that run them. Turbo is used but has no pay in the shafts, made 520whp at 1.2 bar on the previous car it was on, a Supra that only ran that setup for about 2000miles or so. Its £350. MaidenVR6 26
Good price.I just sold my .63 T04S for £
FishWick 21
My anti-surge GT35R compressor housing might fit your T04R. I took it off to fit a plain housing as I hate the whine! It's a TO4S type housing, so should fit if you want it!
kcw 1
Yeh think they have the same housing on them anyway so that'd be great Kev.
jocky102 0
i know this post is oldish but im hoping to get either a turbo or s/c this year and was looking for tips etc etc, i guess i was trying to fool myself into thinking "how hard and complicated can it be, i can do this" all these this & that i keep reading and have NO idea what your talking about lol, so you can tell i am still needing my cherry popped and it wont be any time soon im still lookng through the turbo porn books trying to understand 1st, i have a 95 vr6 golf mk3 left hand drive .. brought it back from Germany with me had it since 1998, but things like quaifes (i know they have something to do with gearboxes now... im learning) and tial 44mm wg makes me feel stupid again lol
kcw 1
Well as your car is a left hooker pretty much all the US "kits" will fit your car so that should make things a little simpler.Quaiffe is a type of differential. The standard diff, when you start wheel spinning its usually the N/S wheel that spins as its shorter and easier to spin and leaves you going nowhere fst. With a diff from the likes of Quaiffe or Peloquin the power gets transfered to whichever wheel actually has traction. Pretty simple explanation but hope it helps, Have a look through Kevs DIY Turbo thread, so so informative.Ken
