dubloke 4 Posted February 10, 2004 Report Share Posted February 10, 2004 just wondered if anyone can help? temp guage in car has been reading low for couple of weeks now, ordered temp sensor today from vw(its the yellow one front right of block i've been told?) and have a thermostst in readyness as well. where abouts is the thermo housing as i haven't looked for it yet and dont want to undo anything unessesary, i dont have a book to goto is all and want to get it right first time! cheers guys! warwickA2VR 0 Posted February 11, 2004 Report Share Posted February 11, 2004 its a black plastic thing bolted on to the right side of the cylinder head (looking at engine bay). It has coolant pipes from the radiator going to it and 2 sensors (a blue and a yellow one) and 1 blanking plug in a row. you have to drain the coolant to take the senser out (or some of it) and replace the o ring. Andy B 0 Posted February 13, 2004 Report Share Posted February 13, 2004 be carefull taking thermostat out, I was told they there are some funny VW screw heads that have to be undone and it is not a ten minute job.also there is a thermostat sensor on the right hand (looking from front of car) top of the radiator that cuts the fans in, maybe the fans are running all the time?mine wern't working and ran hot but may run the other way??
