VR6Rich 3
Just got myself a set of these from GPC.Was looking at the spoiler on my car and there are 4 screws holding the spoiler to the splash guards. How have other people attached the new spoilers to the splash guards? Do you need early VR6 ones?
binliner 0
yes, the early and late ones are a differnt shape... cost about £25 for the pair from VW
mk3anni 0
or remove the splash guards. I did mine on the way to stealth at about 100 on the M40 on sunday.
antera309 3
I removed mine in the same manner :-/
acf8181 0
can we make bets on how long your splitter will last? the copies appear to be very weak in comparison to vw ones, but gpc's may be better. never use a gsf one, you'll need another within a week.yeah, i'd loose the splach guards. get some early ones second hand if you come across some for pennies. binliner 0
I've just put some splash guards on mine but they didnt cost me anything GPC splitters are pretty good tbh and theyre about half the vw price
Nerih 0
bought mine for VW in the end, they dont even fit properly !!!!but they are bulletproof, the splitter took a nasty knock from a pigeon at 70 on a quiet carrage way....i dunno why these frigging birds dont hear a HUGE vr6 power towards them....anyways, i had to get the hole car valet'ed and the splitters look like they took most of the impact low down, the side bits came unclipped slightly but other than that they are good....very strong
dubloke 4
there was me thinking gpc actually sell/supply genuine vw parts? bought one from ecp and fitted perfectly, no unsightly gap and just screwed to the splash guards i had, even though my original spoiler was a later model type! binliner 0
the GPC splitters arent genuine ones
VR6Rich 3
So I can get new early VR6 splash guards from VW for £25 then? May try my local scrappy first. Anybody have the part numbers to hand?
acf8181 0
i can find them if you really want them, but i can't believe you're happy to pay £25 for two bits of plastic that aren't really necessary!
VR6Rich 3
Just want the part numbers so I can check any that are in the scrappys so I dont just get the same ones as I have already! :-)
tandino 1
Rich - why bother - i just used to cable ties to secure the leading edges of the splash guards to the subframe iirc.Been like that for about 3000 miles now - no problem 8)
VR6Rich 3
Might give that a go Pete. :-)
acf8181 0
ok,LF is 1H6 805 825A and RF is 1H6 805 826A (the ones for small splitters have B instead of A, so just remember that last bit...thats providing its an early car of course)

Eat this 2
bought mine for VW in the end' date=' they dont even fit properly !!!!but they are bulletproof, the splitter took a nasty knock from a pigeon at 70 on a quiet carrage way....i dunno why these frigging birds dont hear a HUGE vr6 power towards them....anyways, i had to get the hole car valet'ed and the splitters look like they took most of the impact low down, the side bits came unclipped slightly but other than that they are good....very strong[/quote']it was a specially trained kamakazi pigeonif it hit the plastic splitter at the bottom of the bumper then it didnt break becuz its tough and more importantly flexible
CHRISVR6 0
Just a point about the splash guards, but on the offside (drivers), if you have an induction kit beware of the water floading the air filter and getting sucked into the engine, a friend HAD a VR6 and it killed his engine , not good as there is a big hole in the side of the wing and the water is flung at the filter and the engine when its wet, instead of the arch liner.
binliner 0
the splash guards and arch liners are 2 different things... the splash guards join between the arch liners and front splitter
VR6Rich 3
Now fitted! :-)Just reattached the splash guards just at the front and they seem secure enough. So no need to take them off or buy older ones. :-)
