vdubfamily 0
I have a 1992 golf mk3 VR6 2.8 with a starting problem. Ill start from the begining, I bought the car to bring back to its former glory. I have already changed the interior, gearbox, slutch, front and back brakes and exhaust systems. However, when I try to start the car all I get is a click or sometimes nothing. I have tested the starter and it works but it seems like its not engaging properly when it is installed on the car. i have checke all the earths and they are fine. i have put in new leads but the problem is still there. I am able to start the car from a running start. Anyone ever come across this problem or maybe have a solution to it?Cheers, vdubfamilydown and out brother!
krave 0
Know this sounds stupid but a battery should sort it. I have had this on a couple of vr's and its always just been the battery. Exact same as yours.
VDub_Steve 1
Same as above sounds like dead battery mate
vdubfamily 0
I have checked the battery as well...its all good.down and out brother!
Kelster 0
I would agree with the other two, that is exactly what happens when my battery goes flat. Just makes a click and that is it.
Bigjobbo 0
Have you got the right battery on it. Check the output on it.

sirleeofroy 0
Immobiliser maybe??
Bigjobbo 0
I agree. Take the immobiliser out of the starter circuit but leave the fuel pump on.
vdubfamily 0
its not the immobiliser. Down and out brother!
Bigjobbo 0
I've just changed my ignition switch, but when they go the starter solenoid doesn't click. How are you sure it's not the immobilizer? Have you bridged the starter while it's on the car? Does it engage?
vdubfamily 0
ive bridged it and it engages.
