Tinks 0
Hey everyone just need some help with my mates vr, had it a couple of weeks now and the engine is causin us some right nightmares, the engine idles really lumpy as if it wants to stall, it doesn't start first time from cold has to be reved until its warmed up slightly.read alot on here about the temp sensor sometime playing up so changed that and its still the same sometime get a poping sort of noise from the engine aswell.heres the wierd bit, had a play with a few things and ended up taking the isv valve inlet off and by putting my thumb over it the engine idled fine and also starts fine, i thought it would just stall as i assumed it was the only thing to let air into the engine to allow it to idle, am i right in thinking the throttle body itself needs adjusting?? can tell its been messed around with before as its got all non standard red bolt all over the place.any help on the matter would be much appreciated, sorry for the long rant lolmatt
thegoth 5
Welcome,If it's got an ISV valve it'll be an OBD1 engine. It's the newer OBD2 which can need to have the TB adapted as it's servo driven.Did you also cover the hole in the big air intake as well? With everything back together, try unplugging the MAF to see if the problem gets worse.
Tinks 0
Yeh its obd1, i will give what u said a try hopefully tomorrow, just seems odd that the car runs fine when the isv valve is blocked didn't know if the throttle might be open slightly to allow it to still runs, might have to take the throttle to bits give it a good clean and put it back together. i didn't cover the main air intake tho, was thinkin it might be the maf is there a way of cleaning it?thanks for the reply
