Guest Stu200sx Posted November 4, 2004 Report Share Posted November 4, 2004 Hello Vr6 peeps.I'm asking this question on behalf of my mate who has just started getting an idle problem with his Vr6.When idling (at the lights or whatever) his car will randomly stall. It won't stall as soon as the revs have settled at idle but randomly after. The car appears to be driving fine.It has a ram air cone that looks nice and clean and dry and is all done up nice and tightly.Any ideas? cliveyp 0 Posted November 4, 2004 Report Share Posted November 4, 2004 idle valve? Is it an OBD1 or OBD2 car? If it's the OBD1 then theres a good chance it could be helped by flushing out the idle stabilisation valve. My Corrado randomly cut out at idle (more often than not it was as the revs dropped to idle, but occasionally after), flushed it out with brake cleaner and some WD40 and it was much better! acf8181 0 Posted November 4, 2004 Report Share Posted November 4, 2004 does it slowly die, or does it just cut out instantly (so idling perfectly then bang)?if its the latter it sounds like whats up with mine. i haven't diagnosed what it is yet, checked fuel and ecu relays, next is ignition switch. its unfortunately not something that triggers a fault code so is really tricky to find. He has a private plate so can't tell what year it is without asking him. It dies instantly with no warning. Its now stalling when he starts as well apparantly. Link to post Share on other sites

I understand that there is a motorised throttle body mechanism type thing with the OBD 2's but haven't looked into how it all works as yet. Does anyone know if there is still a microswitch that triggers on the throttle return? Could it be a problem here with a broken wire or dodgy contact? Link to post Share on other sites
