I've got a Helix single mass flywheel, Helix fast road organic clutch kit

These turned up the other day too

Fitted the clutch and flywheel today

vr6tproject193.jpg

Pulled the flywheel on with a couple of old bolts i had lying around

vr6tproject195.jpg

Then put in new bolts and torqued them up

vr6tproject196.jpg

Then put on clutch plate and cover plate. Torqued them up, but too 25 lb/ft rather than the 14.5 lb/ft vw recommend.

vr6tproject197.jpg

Then fitted the new slave cylinder and had a clean of the inside of the bell housing

Then put it all back together

Lovely job!

Big thanks to Mardi Gras Motorsport for supplying the Helix clutch kit, and the next day delivery that was a bargin!!

Thats the kit i bought, which goes back to the good old trusty solid flywheel, and comes with an organic clutch. I didn't go for the standard duel mass flywheel because of the price, and for what i paid for the Helix stuff it really made it worth while.

I'd defo be up for meeting when the beast is done, would be nice to see how yours is coming along!

Just noticed this thread and sat and read through the full 11 pages... I think its a sign! Was about to log onto ebay 2 start hunting for another car (AGAIN) something different, but after reading this i want to keep her again.

You've got some mad skills fella, fair game to you. Something like this just makes you realise the potential the VR has. Well done matey, cant wait to see it finished complete with pics and vids!

Thought it was about time i finish my exhaust manifold.

And i've also opened out the holes in the headers to match the tube size in the manifold

vr6tproject207.jpg

Also made a solid front engine mount to replace the vibra-technics one that was there, because my tps is about 10mm away form the fan, so any movement of the engine could mullered either. Best be on the safe side hey!

solid front mounts rock :) best money i spent on my vrt

Yeah thought it best to make 1, saves buying 1-cause i'm such a cheap skate :-) Should work ok, just going to weld the tabs that the bolts go through, that hold the front subframe onto the chassis legs on, as that will save them falling off 1 day! Seems that happens to vw vr6 owners-chris and chris! ;-)

probably best. there only held on buy a few tack welds :S.

Do u think you use this style exhaust manifold with the standard inlet? or is it way to tight for that

Nice work mate. Do you think that exhaust manifold would work on a 4 mo and who bent your pipework for you? Fancy doing another in kit form?

That 1 wouldn't work because the headers are slightly different, the angle of dangle that the downpipe flanges mount to are level (the vr6 1's are both angled). The princible would, as long as you wouldn't mind loosing your standard inlet manifold (because the turbo is sat up high).

It sits the turbo up high, so that the outlet of the compresser sits level with the rocker cover. And so its not too low and is too close to the transfer box.

looking good mate' date=' u cant be far off completion now

like your solid mount idea, do you think it will add much vibration into the car

[/quote']

Still a few months left-only waiting on getting paid at the end of each month! thats dragging things abit :-)

The solid front mount might add a little, but its gunna shake, rittle, and be noisey, so its probably not gunna be that noticable tbh!
