Phat VR6 3
When you get your gearbox' date=' you need to remember; the bracket that holds the cabels on top of the gearbox, and all of the hydraulic clutch fittings that come out and join the the clutch pipe.N/S - Yes R32 should be the same as the 4 motion stuff.O/S - The length of the driveshaft itself, once stripped of both CV's, is 515mm. Both - I used a 3mm spacer on both hubs. When i shortened the shaft i turned up a piece of hard steel to fit very tightly inside the shaft tube.I lined the prop up with the gearbox as well as keeping the engine level ish. I used 3mm mild steel to make the gearbox bracket, that is a copy of the dutchdub part. It's not too bad when i shift even with my short shift mod. The final drive is Ok but i sometimes find myself searching for 7th gear! :-p Ive got very little experience with painting but like everyone says its all in the prep. My workshop wasn't the best place to do it because of the dust! Hope this helps fella [/quote']cheers paul. that is a massive help. how did you make the spacers. my take on it would be a 3mm sheat of steel, compass, then drilling hundeds on holes. then spending like 3 days with a file trying to get it to fit lol. im sure theres a better way but im kind of limited on tools I can get the drive shaft shortand round here for not too much. But if it would be worth while for you and not much much of a mission id be more than happy to pay for you for some spacers, and even the drive shaft. just depends if its worth the hassle but let me know so what does your do at like 7000 rpm in 6th? what do you mean shifting is "ok" lol, i wanna here that is the smoothest most enjoyable shifting exspearance you ever had in your time on this plannet lolI wanna paint my car but it would invole building a massive tent on the drive way.. isn't going to happen lol
legvw 0
I would help make the bits mate but i can't with 1 hand! For the spacers i just turned up some steel in the lathe. Have you got an engineering company near you?I haven't had it round to 7000rpm in 6th yet!Yes shifting is alot more positive, but because i've removed the weight, it can be a little 'clunky'. No biggy because i can be abit hand fisted sometimes!!

legvw 0
Thank you for the get well wishes. My hand is better, but not perfect. Only today have i used my hand, without the splint on, for a full day at work. I've been at work for the past couple of weeks, only doing 1 handed bits an pieces, but it felt good today to finally let my hand loose! The only issue now is the pain and lack of movement i've got, but that should all improve with time.I'm hopefully going to flat the car off in the evenings this week, ready for the final coats of paint on sunday.:-)

legvw 0
Right, time to get my arse in gear!Tomorrow i WILL finish the paint on my car, ready for the final assembly during the week.Plus, i've got a flocked dash coming soon, so need to strip the dash out, again, and might stick a lick of paint on the inside while its removed. (pre-rollcage next year).Ordered a mk4 vr thermostat housing to replace my 12v vr 1, so i can sort out the coolant and boost pipes in the engine bay. Also, might have forgot to mention the my carbon bonnet turned up a couple of weeks ago! I was going to reveal it with the car once the bodywork was finished, but as you al know, thats dragged on a bit!Pics tomorrow, i promise! :-) :-) :-)
