icewolf9 0
I'm really such a newbie, sorry for all the questions! When you lock or unlock the car, it beeps, right? Is there um, any way to change that beep? It's just one drone at the mo and was wondering if there's anyway I can change that beep to a sort of... better, louder one? Sorry if that seems a stupid question! Also the headlights give off a boring sort of yellow tint. One of them has just gone so I think it's a good time to replace. What would I need to get for HIDS with that nice blueish tint? They're 8K aren't they? What sort of prices would I be looking at? Am I just swapping the bulbs or do I need to replace the entire headlight?Thankies!

H13VYY 0
In regards to the alarm i ain't got a clue.HID kit, you want the 6000k which will be the brightest but also with a slight blue tint. 8000k will be noticeably blue and you would also lose actual road light. Im sure, factory fitted xenons are 4500k which also give a bluey tint so 6000k is more than enough.
icewolf9 0
I think 8000k will be a bit too much, so I'll aim for le 6000k! My lights are really dull and yellow, defo no blue in them!? I'll have a google search for some prices. Sankoo
Ben Seabrook 4
and with regards to the alarm question I would think not - a new alarm would be the only way to get a new tone unless you have a very flashy one !!
icewolf9 0
Is it easy to get a new alarm installed? Would it affect the immobiliser?
Ben Seabrook 4
depends on your current setup - I currently have an vw alarm and an aftermarket immboiliser but am having both replaced with one all singing all dancing alarm - as the guy doing it says it's more straightforward that way
icewolf9 0
I've got no idea if it's vw or aftermarket.... How complicated is getting it replaced with another alarm? Is it pricey?
Ben Seabrook 4
well your vr has a built in VW alarm with a chip in the key - do you have a fob with a full closure alarm as well ? I also have a immboiliser that I have to put into a little slot on the dash as well. Not complicated if you get someone to do it ;) mine is costing me about £
andrew mouganie 0
the alarm wont be cheap depending on what you want, i guess around £350 should get you a decent one, as for the HID's 8k is fine you need to get the right fitting bulb, i think H3 and there is a ballast box that is included with the wiring, not that hard to do urself if ur able. The only note is to use decent size wiring cause they draw alot of current, Prices for the lights are around £125 but if u have time u can get them from china (cause they are all made there) for $40... I'll get springs, HIDS and whatnot sorted then I'll get a new alarm! Lots of effort just for a beep!!! Thankies!!!

[/quote']They're H4 bulbs but a HID kit has everything needed then? Sounds alright! Is it a pretty simple, take out old bulbs, put in new ones and wire it back up afain?I'm sure you can some that aren't from china!? Looking at these: http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/hid-products.html at the mo. I've been advised £100 all in for a good HID kit + delivery is a good deal.
H13VYY 0
how about these:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=160313515641Plus their the 55watt kit. icewolf9 0
Cant get on ebay at work!! >.< Will check it when I get home though! Okay, something else has cropped up. Apparently these headlights are reflector, nto projector? And HIDs work better with projector else it produces a scattered light that's illegal???? IS a projector something that could be bought and fitted into my currect headlights, then a HID kit wired in after? Or do I need to get new headlights with projectors in them? Or would HIDs go stright into my current, standard headlights no fuss and work fine after??
