ace82 0
basically, the way best to descibe is slightly like a misfire and it does not sound smooth at all, ive got a vr as well and the difference is very noticable, however there is no erratic idle, but there is some hesitation when u out your foot down. dnt think he has checked the compression.hope that makes some snese!!!!! Ben Seabrook 4
checked and cleaned the isv ??does the obd2 have an isv' date=' if so where is it?[/quote']ooops sorry mate didn't know it was an obd2 !! as Craig says you don't have an ISV then !! well on the side of the throttle body is a small sensor that can mess up the idle - worth taking the throttle body off cleaning it and checking the sensor opens and closes it correctly ? ace82 0
how do i check if the sensor is opening it correctly????sorry to sound dumb!!!! lol!!!!!
Ben Seabrook 4
mmm good question am trying to remember basically it has 3 wires going into the top of it and when you move the sensor on the side the resistance in the wires changes - you ideally need another VR to check it against - sorry not much help mate
ace82 0
is it worth swapping our throttle bodies over to check if that is the problem????
Ben Seabrook 4
yes can do matey - also worth testing the MAF as well see here http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3290002
ace82 0
how hard/easy is it to take the throttle body off????
Ben Seabrook 4
easy mate just take off the hoses that go into it and it's only about 4 bolts holding it in - however I can't remember if on obd2 cars you have to re-align it after removing it
craggsy 91
nope.....had mine off numerous times. Well it realigns itself if you turn ignition on without starting car
