bobveedub 0
Hi,My golf VR6 is lowered on FK coilovers. When i took my car to a garage to get my wheels balanced (steering wheel was wobbly) they shown me that my top mounts were knackered with play.My question is can i use standard VR parts from GSF and if so what exactly do i need please? when I have the parts ill take to a garage and get fixed. Many ThanksBob
xyber 1
yeah GSF stuff is fine, you need the top mounts and bearings but they are normally sold all in one together and are cheap as chips
bear 0
I fitted new top mounts last june and the mot man said they need replacing again !i used gsf mounts but have ordered new pair fron vw main dealer, oniy £25.i have Eibach coilovers fitted which i think are the same as FK,just wondering if i've fitted them right, but you can't really go wrong ! Ben Seabrook 4
be careful that it's not the bushes in the wishbones that are shot not the top mounts - took mine for it's MOT and was told the top mounts were shot but when we got the car back and checked it over the bushes in the wishbone had gone not the top mount
Charged VR 0
Some people cant seem to check the top mounts properly, there will be some up-down movement with no weight on the suspesion on a mk3, the best way to check them is jack the car up and try and move the spring towards and away from you whilst watching the top mount from inside the arch and see how much sideways movement there is
