If on a budget, get FK Koenigsports.. A populr coilover as fully adjustable and reliable! Think you can get them less than £600 now... not sure...

But if you've got money to blow and want PROPER coilovers, go for KW's Varient 1/2 or H&R stage 1's!!

ARB's, Eibach!

I got the Koenigsports and Eibach ARB's...

are FK's bump and rebound adjustable then?

i'd say neuspeed arb's (and if it were me i'd get 25mm front and 28mm adjustable rear)

i think the best bit is that they come with uprated front arb links, which i don't think any other kit does. and the o.e. links aren't very strong, i've snapped both mine with a standard bar, now in my mind the uprated bars are gonna put more stress on them.

On another thread I was just saying that I bought and fitted front and rear Neuspeed ARBs (both 25mm), from Awsome GTI.

The front bars weren't supplied with Neuspeed links anymore!!!!

Need to check with Awsome tomorrow that they weren't just missing out of my pack - although the instructions detailed - unsrewing the factory links from the exisiting ARB and fitting it to the new one.

So it sounds like they might have stopped supply the links :(

I'll let you know tomorrow!

thats no good...o.e. links are crap!

or could it be awesome pulling a fast one. if you look on the neuspeed site the pic of the kit clearly shows new links.

you got 25mm both end? the normal thing to do is get 22mm front with 25mm rear, or 25mm front with 28mm rear.

Spoke to Dean at Awesome and this is the story;

The GTI front bar is 22mm and comes with the Neuspeed links.

The VR6 specific front bar is 25mm but doesn't have the front links !

acf - I think you have previously asked if you can buy the Neuspeed links seperately - the answer is Yes !

Awsome are ordering some in - should be here next week, not sure how much they will be until they get them but think about £25 a pair.

Mike, You will probably need to order these to go with the rest of your new set-up!

The other point about needing to maintain the Neuspeeds - The 2 (per bar) polyurethane mounting bushes (the red bit on the above links) need to be lubrictated annually. Don't know if the Eibach bushes are a different material or if Eibach just don't care if they get lubricated or not, guessing the latter!

Maybe the best way to go, for your pocket, is to buy the cheaper Eibach bars and then fit the Neuspeed links to the front?

Also - yes I bought 25mm front and back. The Neuspeed front only has 25mm, as you know, so that was a given.

On the back I spoke to Dean at Awsome for some time until deciding to go for the 25mm ones. Dean thought 28mm might over cook it and you'd end up with a rear wheel perminantly in the air on the bends - Good or Bad thing?

I put the 25mm rear on and set it to the stiffest setting (choise of 3 settings).

To me it handles so much better than before - but did I make the right choice?

Think that covers everything!!!

thanks for the info, thats a very very good price as the links cost £50 each from vw, or £30 each from gsf (i got mine free from a mate hto ;))

i was under the impression only the rose joints for the adjustability of the rear bar needed maintenance.

good thing IMO!!!! lol

you prob made the right choice for you, and for most people, i'm a bit quirky when it comes to handling!

Depends what the roll stiffness is on the front as to how far it cocks the rear wheel up in the air.

Tbh the inside rear wheel doesnt actually do sweet fa when cornering hard and most cars with a beam rear axle do the same under hard cornering so nothing to worry about imho...

All depends on if you like lift off oversteer and how able you are to cope with it - the Mk3 Golf is very neutral in this respect and does need severe provocation to step out even under hard driving - with the stiffer rear bar you will possibly lose some of that but in my opinion that is a good thing for the experienced driver.

I love lift off oversteer - others dont - all depends on what you like 8)
