thegoth 5
Now there's me told. I am considering the 16ver as scrappage fodder towards a new micro-mini if I get a job a distance away.
cabrioman 6
nooooooooo .......
CALICO 130
i dont see the point you loose £1000 of the price as soon as you drive the car off the forecourt so your only getting £1000 for your old car then loose 33% within the next 2 years so good by to another 2 grand. so in 2 years time you will be £1000 worse off . why notjust buy a second hand golf mk4 tdi for £2500-£3000 and still get 50 mpg lol
CALICO 130
surely your 16ver must be worth enough for a deposit on a better car. Super-minis are cheap for a reason
gavinvr6 0
some dealers are allowing you to chop in for the 2 g scrap allowance but letting ya use it on a used/part ex car, so if ya can find a vw place thats doing it why not see if they got a mk4 4mo or 1.9tdigti you can take. im looking at chopping the vr in for a used 4mo. but if u want super mini citreon yeah i know there crap but a 2 g scrap allowance against a c1 means you get a brand new car for about 3 g. depreciation or not that cant be a bad deal
GraLaw 0
It's just another con like all these places that say they take any car pushed, pulled or towed. It's all to get cleaner cars on the road. So, if anyone in this forum does it we can carbon offset, so that means I can have 2 VR6 lumps in my car!
Kelster 0
The whole thing is a bit of a con imo anyway. So I have a VR6 that produces a nice amount of CO2. If I scrap it then CO2 will be produced in scrapping process and there will be shed loads more CO2 produced in the production of my replacement car, shipping it here, making it etc.The difference in CO2 of my new car and my VR6 will be so minimal that I will probably have to drive the new car for the next 100 years to save the amount of CO2 produced in the production of my new eco-car.That is my theory anyway, so I will keep the VR. When I turbo it then I guess I will produce more CO2 so I would probably have to drive the new for about 50 years instead before I make a difference. Will w8 until the VR dies then by something else me thinks Then buy another performance car that has the same CO2 emmisions and has a CO2 cost in the production - doh ! Kelster 0
Opps, back on topic...the CLIO can go !

More cars are coming from overseas now because UK car plants have closed down. If it's CO2 there so worried about why arn't they offering free push bikes in exchange for old cars that are probably the same value? Or vouchers for trains and buses? All to boost the countries finances.

cabrioman 6
i see wot ur all sayin but as i work in a main dealer i know wot happens to the cars they go off to the local dismanatlers and the cars are stripped bare right down the the shell the reat is sold on as parts so i think is a very good idea and plus all the techs in the work shop get first dibs on the cars that come in .... and we have sold i think 10-15 cars in the last 3 weeks so more money into the motor trade and more bussiness for the garage .... plus if u buy a new hyundai coupe u get some thing liek 4k off it ... so you get pretty nice car for the price of a super mini ....
