AWB70 0
Hello again I havn't been here for a while due to work commitments. I have a P reg highline, I was due to do a service when I noticed that the header bottle was full of bad news custard and it had been needing oil top ups roughly a half ltr every 6-8 weeks, strangely the sump oil is quite clean! Anyway I was working away at that time, the tax was up and being my toy not the family motor I garaged it up and left it, That was two years ago lol and now I have the time I'm back on the case.So far I have flushed out the water system charged the battery & the old beast started up straight away. Question is before I embark down the road of head gaskets is there any other common faults that would mix oil & water? It has been suggested timing chain housings or possibly the oil cooler. My mechanic friend is going to try a sniff test on monday.
Bobtrude 0
I have never heard of it beeing anything else than the headgasket. . . . . To change it is good anyways .

AWB70 0
Thanks for that will let you know the results of the sniff test. I'm looking at the vr6oc premium membership, does the pack contain information on stuff like doing the head gaskets? Also I could do with knowing what else is worth changing while the engines stripped out.

AWB70 0
Ok will do m8 if its got some engine literature it worth the fee alone, BTW I think its £15 these days but I was looking for a haynes manual which would probably be about that. Has anyone tried these workshop manual cd-roms that are often on Ebay?
